Amazing shot of a forgotten monster. Amazing that it was such a vital part of the community and then left!
Been looking forward to see your take on this...
Cool a Michigan one....its sad that this building was left to rot away. What a total waste. If only when it closed in '88 they had started to refurbish it than.....but after all these yrs left to waste.....look how much it would cost to put it to use....still with that said its still sad & a waste. The documentary you posted Motts was great.....I didn't get to go to the station when it was in use....not that I've ever been in it. I leave that to people like you Motts.....thanks for the pictures. Hope you have more Michigan places sometime......now on to the gallery.......
The word " fortress" comes to mind
Stunning!! It's almost as if the place is in charge :)
What a gorgeous building - built in the day when architecture and elegance was the norm. They sure don't build them like this anymore. I was so happy to see another set up!
Nice new pic's!
That is a very imposing looking building!
I dunno if its as big as it looks, but it looks huge.
Detroit itself seems a bit beyond salvage sometimes, just too massive and sprawling for the earlier half of the century to withstand the later half.
Motts Wallpaper PLease. This is Awsome Motts.
serenityjane, you are missing this new gallery!!!!!! Where are you? Lucie
Yay! Another gallery! This building is beautiful, what a damn shame it's just rotting away.
The front facade notwithstanding, the entire building holds the essence of a totalitarian architecture. If the location was not stated, I would have guess it to be in Germany or Russia. Oddly enough, it is situated in the American midwestern state of Michigan.
Love the Detriot buildings. Check out http://www.forgottendetroit.com/index.html
as well for more on this and several other Detriot landmarks.
Motts, love the Marquee photo. Awesome early 20th century architecture and, has my bro’s name spray painted on a big piece of plywood and tacked to a chain link fence. This could very well be his Xmas gift….. Rock on.
Also, Constintina wire on the fence top,. Nice touch.
been waiting for this one. They filmed a scene of Transformers here
Laundry going, fire in the fireplace, fresh cup of coffe and an old, run-down building...does life get any better?!?!?!?
Motts, SOOO glad you decided to come do this one. If anybody can do it justice, it's you!
do you guys know they filmed parts of the movie transformers here the part where shia was being chased by barricade.
Its to bad that is abondend, its a great building probbly alot of work and money went into makeing it
WOW! That is a big sucker!! They should renovate and use it. Buildings are not built like that anymore.
This is chilling to me as a former Michigan resident, places like this are all over the state, abandoned Big 3 plants in almost every city...My parents are from Flint and Detroit areas and its so sad seeing these huge places as a kid, and now their gone, huge parking lots that held 3-4 shifts worth of workers, 24-7 building cars, now empty...the bars and restaraunts that serviced the workers, barely holding on...I am brand new to this page, but it has engulfed me!!! I would Love to see more from Michigan and the auto industry, and the price the midwest has paid for poor leadership, over powering unions, and people buying foreign made auto's....beautiful photos!!!
Beautiful building, I did not know that there was plans to demolish it early this year but was cancelled because it's on the Historic Registry.
If you are going to keep it around it need to be cleaned but they don't want to which makes no sense. Detroit has enough delabitated buildings and this as time goes by will just get worse, implode it.
This used to be such a beautiful building. I remember driving by it on the way to my aunts house. It is such a shame what has become of it in its later years. We as a people in the country are all about having new things and getting rid of the old. If we were in Europe this building would be considered young. But here we consider it to old to be of any real use when the fact is it would be of great use if the maintance was kept up on.
Wow what a great shot. The station remines me a lot of the Buffalo Central Terminal where I always take pictures at.
Michigan Central Station was featured on an episode of Detriot 1-8-7 last night...reconized it from seeing it on here. So cool!
My Hometown. Pass it every day... Such beautiful architectural work.

I used to pass by this place all the time. I am from Boston but lived in and around the Detroit area for well over 20yrs. It's sad to see this and many other places in the city. But thanks to our friend here justice is done for the station. Or as much that can be done. Thanks for doing what you do. Keep amazing us with your talents.
Breathtaking!
Wow, I would LOVE to see this in person!
