Gefechtsturm

Gefechtsturm

The room that contained the entrance to the bunker had some interesting photographs mounted on the walls, as well as a curious collection of various toilets that were used underground.

This is a photograph of the remains of a flak tower (flakturm) in Friedrichshain, Berlin - May 2nd, 1946. The sheer size of the structure and the damage done to it was incredible.

That is SOME pic!!! I love the border though Motts, it adds to the destruction, like it spills out of the photo!
Mr Motts, you are one lucky man to be able to see all this in your life time. And we are so luckky that you share it with us!
Motts, you're fantastic!! Love your work!!
Considering how long ago that photo must of been taken, its an amazing photo
Nifty subject-- I can't wait to go through the rest of the gallery!
Great Motts, Im so glad to see more galleries!
I have found that viewing these photos while listening to music is like having my very own little documentary playing.

For these and the Taunton gallery I used Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber. You would know it from Platoon. It is called the saddest music ever written.

It is some how appropriate when viewing some of these old places.
Thank you for sharing your adventures. I am awe-struck by all of it
