Luminous

Luminous

We were told about the luminous paint used to light the pathways of the bunker when the electricity failed - although over 65 years old, it still reacts to lights and is quite bright. Contact with the skin was to be avoided, as it was found to contain toxic chemicals in later years.

A demonstration of the effect required someone to stand in front of a wall, and a flash photo was taken - the result is what you see above, a shadow created by the blockage of the direct light. The detail is quite incredible, you can see the subject is holding a flashlight.

Paint with a half-life! I believe they used radium in it.
IS THAT YOU???
Makes me wonder if the magnetic paint that I used on my one wall in my house will still function after 65 years!
Its kind of strange to think of these walls slowly fading into darkness after the tour has ended and the bunker is empty once again.
