Nazi Games

Nazi Games

Nazi board games were used by the propaganda ministry to spread the National Socialist ideals into the homes of both adults and children. Games had titles such as Juden Raus! (Jews Out - 1936), Bomber über England (Bombers over England - 1940), and Jagd auf Kohlenklau (Hunt the Coal Thief - 1944).

I don't know what the title of the game pictured above was, but it seems to involve getting through these events: an air raid siren goes off, the family goes to a bunker in the basement, a bomb hits the roof, the community helps the Luftschutz fight the fire, then returning to the dinner table safely.

Pretty disturbing!
They found effective ways to get their ideas across. Playtime propaganda.
Hey kids, c'mon over! I can't even finish that thought. Sickening....
Fascinating!
awful. brainwasing at its best
I'm FREAKIN' SPEACHLESS! Can you imagine seeing board games like that in ToysRUs or Walmart? HA!!
Not surprising from a government that dictated every facet of German society. What was acceptable and what was not. I guess this game is kind of appropriate for a bomb shelter. I wonder what the Jews Out game was like! Probably very popular game with the SS and Gastapo families.
Faaaar more intense than American Patriotism. . . even American Patriotism during WWII. . .
Here is some information about the "Juden Raus" game (the first site is in English, the other two in German):

According to one source it was a complete flop, but according to another more than one million games were sold in 1938...

Thanks for the references! Most amazing . . . . . .
Very interesting but what horrible times they were
I never thought about what board games children played in nazi germany. and now I can say I wish I was still in the dark
I used to cringe when the game " Ballbuster " was advertised on television in the early 60's.
" HEY KIDS :GET BALLBUSTER!"
make that early 70's
I bet those games provided a lot of rainy day fun. Maybe a "collectors edition" is in the works for Christmas.
Let's play "Shoots and Gasses!"
I wanna play that game
@ someone: Thanx for the info!
This stuff is all about defense against air raids. The one on the top of the stack says "Air Defense in Pictures". The smaller text at the bottom says "from Undersecretary Dr. Knipfer and Captain Lieutenant, retired, Burkhardt in the German Ministry of Aviation" The middle booklet under that is titled "Air Defense, National Socialist German Worker's Party". My guess would be they used the booklets as references to play the game and learn the skills at the same time.
Oof. Wow.
