Corrosion

Corrosion

Parts of the bunker have been left in an sort of un-restored condition. I believe these are typical examples of the condition objects are found in when a bunker is investigated these days. One can see the almost complete disintegration of gas masks and even metal objects such as helmets.

Very sad to see from a collector and preservationist like myself...
But it's inevitable to see some of it go...
Wooow. . . . I love that even the masks are decaying. . .
Years of dampness will do this but its good to see that much of this stuff was preserved and acquired by the museum
Heh, what ebolavirus said... sometimes those helmets (in good shape) go for $200. My second cousin in Germany saw some go for the equiv. of $500 in his locale.
That is a Russian helmet!
And I think that piece of "pipe" is from a Panzerfaust!
