This is a fantastic site! I am in awe of your talent, integrity and let's not forget, your bravery, Mr. Mott's. I have only recently found your site thru a link from a blog on MSN. I simply cannot get enough!
Anyway, on to my point, there seems to be quite a few similarities in the pattern of this staircase and the pattern on the wall in the Scratches photo from the Mental Floss gallery. Wherever this staircase leads it seems to have made a rather large impact on one of it's users. The way out, the way home perhaps? Or could it be a darker reason?
Thought provoking! I love it!
These fancy staircases always led to the tunnels.
Is there a book yet on all the info and pictures you've compiled?
...Amarae - No, there isn't a book. We keep pestering him to make one. Maybe ... someday ... we can always hope and dream.
Imagine getting a toe stuck in one of those stairs? It could definitely get ripped off! Ow. That's all I have to say. Although I doubt nurses would have let patients run around barefoot.
wow love the fancy staircase!
Do you see how the stairs are worn? They dip down in middle from hundreds and hundreds of staff, patients and all the souls of yesteryear. The steps unto themselves have a story to tell.
That's such a beautiful picture. I just found this site today. It's really interesting.
This is avery interesting site. Is it really haunted? I think so. I hear stories about it all the time. I want to take a visit some day.
I am in absolute awe of your pictures. I have never seen a sight like this. I have a peculiar fascination with these dilapitated but beautifully architectured buildings, the creepiness and sad histories of these places leaves me intrigued and your pictures tell an interesting story:)
Teena, haunting is in the eyes, or head, of the beholder, Step outside where you live at two o'clock in the morning of a dark night and tell me it isn't haunted!
The intricate details found in some of these old buildings adds an air of dignity to what they held inside.
i love the stairwell!
WOW! Such attention to detail.
I lived there about a year ago in the new houseing and walked around the place in went into building way up in the back and yes it is fucking scary herd foot steps and shit moveing around. i have a picture of a of a man looking at me from one of the windows on my cell phone.
Holy Cow! Excellent, Motts! Thank you for risking life and limb for us disabled folk who can live vicariously through your walks. You don't know how much it means to me (us).
Does anyone agree with me that this staircase is iron? Maybe one piece? If so, again I say, Holy - Cow!
