Rotunda

Rotunda

This was definitely one of the most interesting rooms in the building; I don't know what the purpose of it was, or what function the odd looking apparatus served.

It does remind me of the operating room at the Lemaire sanitarium in Belgium (before and after).

very creepy!
Only being two tubs with all that room and light, i would think it was some sort of resort. My first thought was Mercury Baths but i've never seen ones for a single person and wouldn't explain the apparatus in the room unless it was some sort of hoist to raise and lower people into the bath.
How deep were they, Motts? And what's the brown bottle if front of the left one?
i think those were like tubs and the apparatus was lowered down in the water to make it spa like water
I hope an advertising company doesn't find this one. .. They are always looking for new locations for ED medicine commercials. This would be another location for the husband/wife in separate bathtubs Cialis commercials.
The bottoms were flush with the floor, and I don't know what the bottle was for.
Love the green, but........ugh no, disturbing!
looks like hydro therapy baths, added with solarium-like lighting and view.. very odd though
What is a mercury bath?
Awesome room!

Loove the green.
MIKE, you made me laugh OL ,LOVED ur comment, i sure wouldnt want to see alice or bob in that tub
It would make for a good Cialis commercial, absolutely. One for transient derelicts that is. Bag ladies need love too!
The thing on the right appears to have been moved from elsewhere in the hospital From what I can decipher, it looks like it was the pedestal to an operating room table. The top is missing.
Hi,
it has been an ordinary bathing room. the apparatus has been removed from the operation rooms in the same building. When i was there for the first time there were still the two bathtubs in their rack. what is left are those two racks.
Looks like hydrotherapy baths to me!
Looks like mud baths to me
this room could make a good SAW scene
Good to know those are racks for hydrotherapy tubs... because I was gonna say those are some DAMN uncomfortable-looking tubs!
looks like hydro therapy baths, and yesssss do ppart of a saw movie here PLEASE( that would be so cool )
Filled with water and ice cold therapy was one of the ghastly methods used on patients!
