The light fixture certainly detracts from the beautiful mosaics.
Twug, don't look at the light fixture, pretend it is not there.
Its a soap dispenser, not a light fixture.
Hahaha. Knew that would get in here someplace LOL. It is gorgeous work.
Where these building still being heated as it is amazing the tile is still in place?
It should be some pretty looking light fixture that goes with the patterns of the mosaic
No the buildings were not heated; they are deteriorating more and more every year as well as being vandalized.
who ever did this tile job is amazing.. great shot
makes me feel queasy though
Fanciest light fixture. Ever.
Sort of ironic that they go to all that trouble of creating such a wonderful ceiling then they cheap out on the lighting.... must have ran out of money.
i love your work....it inspires me to new art.
oh. and LOL. definately a soap dispenser...i spend way too much time on this site.
beautiful mosaic they dont do much work like that nowadays
The amount of work in the tile in this area is incredible. Not often seen. I hope they repurpose this building.
I don't think these lights are original to the building, must have been added long after the incredible tile work
I hope they reuse this building, those lights are not original. They are probably from the 50's or 60's
If you look at that tile work long enough it makes you kind of dizzy
I can only imagine the TIME it took to lay all those bricks in those intricate angles like that.
I'll bet the original light was much more attractive. And probably gas operated.
Wow, can you imagine the play of slightly flickering gaslights over the amazing tile motifs? That would have been beautiful. Much more so than the cold, sterile glare of harsh fluorescents. But, time marches ever forward...
Was this in the kitchen area, because I can imagine a communal bath for TB patients.
Yes white ceramic. Ok let's go
