Gardens

Gardens

The raised area consisted of a shallow trench; in it were a few shriveled plants, however this room had the feel of a large sauna or bath house. I could imagine sauna rocks in the trench with patients sitting along the edge.

The last use of this room seems to be a canteen, as depicted in this 1992 photograph.

Motts, were those columns actually painted green, or is this some sort of mold attack?
Yeah it's actually some funky green-yellow mold, you can see a little on the floor, but for some reason they grow best on the columns.
Nice!
Great craftsmanship went into those ceilings.
A tiled faulted ceiling? Very unique
Oh lord, that's mold?! Oi...
Anyway, awesome ceilings, awesome detail.
mold.......ugh! But great photo
For some odd reason this room looked like a spacious foreign restaurant.

But it looked cool even through mold's on those columns.
Now I wasn't expecting THAT...!
that is one awesome photo ... congrats ..
Neat arched ceilings!
The garden areas in sanitariums are always so beautiful. This shot is absolutely amazing.
Those arched ceilings seem to me as if they were based off of some sort of Spanish-Muslim type architecture from the 8th century....
Hi - First comment ever... Mott I envy you!

For the trench thing, seeing this is a German and therapy type place... I'd suggest that we're looking at a (and I'm not 100% sure on this)
at a what?! don't keep us in suspense!
ummm Mayan, Mexican or ? very interesting tile
the mold on the columns and that brilliant tile work, brilliant together!
would have never guessed that was mold on those columns. it looks like it should be there. I love this picture
Maybe that mold has an affinity for the type of paint or surface on the columns. Just goes to show tile lasts like freakin' iron!
Doh! Text got cut off! the rest read Kneipp Wasserkur - type of hydrotherapy - wiki Kneipp!
This reminds me of another building you had with huge tiled ceilings....can't remember the one, but there just isn't those craftsmen anymore. The tiling is just amazing!
I like those tiles and the vaulted ceiling.
this one is by far my favorite picture...beautiful!
Wow, the colors in this are too cool. So, that's moss on the pillars? Wow... it is so 'even' , it looks like a good paint job! The green goes so well with the yellow, esp. for a sauna room.
For some reason that room reminds me of either a middle eastern prayer room or turkish bath. Its the colors I know, but still.
Jebus, is that some swell craftsmanship with them there vaulted, tiled ceilings or what? What a bitch it must have been to construct!
That actuall took my breath away, it was totally unexpected! Love it (including the moldy columns)!
Now this ceiling is amazing....Just think of all the time it took to do that ceiling...the mold on the columns is gross but the colors together are wonderful to see......interesting space & great pic as always , Motts!!!
The architecture is mind boggling, I love it...
Although the green color sucks, since when its it ok to let architecture like this rot?
I like this particular color that mold imparts. It goes with the idea of TB. Check out Marcel Proust's Remebrance of Things past for the morbid depiction of how TB santitoriums affected society. Clear High Mountains in the Alps and blood imagery.
That column in the back seems to be leaning. Illusion?
This looks to be in remarkably good shape
Yes hyrulian, hey I've seen you here before. Last year. I was you but in a different name and now i'm me. It's not worth looking upwards, and if you do it will give you vertigo. LOL!

amusement ride is over.

Now care for a nice deep relaxing dip in the whirlpool. Watch for the spiders.
true italian masonry...
Oh wow! Beautiful!

I was digging those green columns til I learned it was mold.
