Rug

Rug

Another oddity that leaves one with many questions: What was on the rack? Why did it need an extravagant rug? Why was it left behind?

Well, all I can say is that I certainly wouldn't mind having that rug in my house.
That is, indeed, a beautiful rug.
Neat rug and why the lights?
For a second, I thought that was an extremely claustrophobic bunk bed. :'D
mmmm. it is a nice rug...but WHY? has to be asked on many levels, especially the lights...so it would be used after dark...and people would be walking near it hence the rug...*scratches chin*
could be a former weed plantation
Bloody hell, that looks like a Wilton...! (And having tried - and failed - to remove one from a house myself, I can tell you that they're incredibly heavy and awkward to shift.)
I'm wondering if they might be UV tubes, making this a sort of photo-therapy device. Such treatments are used for psoriasis.
Can't explain the rug though...
somebody was growing something there , and i think you could smoke it...
I was thinking bunks too. Looks like bunks from a ship...but the lights kind of cast some doubt on that.
I have doubts the rug's been there since the place closed, surely it'd be more decayed as well as moths and rats would of had a go at it
so u are saying after the place closed somebody picked all that up and put a rug underneath it ... i would have to say ur wromg on that one matt
Now THAT is juxtapositional.
That rug really ties the room together.
maybe it's a magic carpet and someone put the shelves on it to stop it flying away! HA!
sneaky-sweep, you've come up with the best idea thus far!! LOL

why would they leave that rug. it must be worth a small fortune to someone.
I know plant racks look like that..maybe since they were a city unto themselves for awhile, they used it for a greenhouse. I am thinking the rug was original to the room and the rack was stored there later.
It is strange to see that rug there. I wonder how old it is and why its there
Archie wiped his hands on his pants and gave the heavy rack one last heave. It settled into place with a reluctant thunk, echoing the faint pounding from below. The thick Persian rug had been his mother's favorite; having been bought to silence her demands, it now silenced her screams of anguish as the rats below did their work.
old body racks
so high because lack of room
Yeah, I was thinking it was for plants with the lights underneath it. Not sure about the rug though. Seems like an odd place for a nice rug....just some thoughts.....
Lol, what were they growing? Seriously, what a beautiful rug! I am wondering if those are tight bunk beds (EEEK! I am SO claustrophobic!!!).
I sure hope they are not bunk beds, I dont think I could sleep on those
I don't think they're photo-therapy beds, they don't look stable enough to support three layers of people. Odd about those lights, though... exactly what WOULD that have been for? I don't see any electrical cords coming from them, either... so how did they even get power? Weeeeird.
The rug is a sad symbol. It makes me think that someone cared enough at one time that they took the time out to purchase and lay a really nice rug down in a sad environment
the rug look almost new
Body racks?
i really kinda want that rug....
Mabey the rack used to house a hydroponics setup....I know thats what Mine looks like about the right spacing between the lights and the would be pots
hmm......
I agree with the plant set up, most likely, would be African Violets, which are very hard to grow, and need special lighting. As for the rug, i bet the moisture from these old cement floors caused the backing to rot and stick like glue to the floor. So they couldnt get the rug up without damaging it, so they choose to leave it.
Better yet why is it sitting in the middle of the floor? It make u also wonder how big the room is and how many row of these I am assuming shelfs are in one room. And the colors of the rug is still very vibrate. Very little fading. I wonder how long it has been sitting there. I love a photo that can make u think!!
i would say they were growing plants of some type
I don't know much about this stuff, but why would such an elaborate rug be under a plant rack? Could the lighting and rack possibly have been used to treat infants who were sick? Perhaps the lights were used to keep them warm in incubation baskets? I'm sure i'm waaaay off, but it was just a thought.
nice rug
I'd like to shake that rug and watch all the dust come out of it!
This made my mouth drop open, the colours of the rug is so vibrant it looks new, and to leave it behind at the value behind is crazy. But great find!
It would be could if you could send this photo to someone who used to work here and ask just WTH is up with this. But I guess, just like exactly how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know......
