drains in the floor?
With easy washable walls...
My son just said, "Air vents!" I said, "no, those are drains."

Which made me wonder... why are there drains in the floor? Was this a type of washing area?
*blinks* Or were those drains just to make a nurse's job easier. . ? I mean, they WERE tb patients. . .
Probably a shower room.
wow to find a room like this in such good condition.
I would say they are for heat. I can't see any other way to heat the room. :)
Oh geez, I HATE those "subway" tiles that people seem to have in their houses these days!! They always remind me of , well, dirty SUBWAYS, and places like this :-0. Never will understand why people like "institutional" -looking stuff in their living spaces. (???)
The floor tiles (apart from the ones around the 'drains') are textured, so perhaps it was some kind of wet room?

What's that seemingly round thing to the top right of the window, Motts?
Not sure, could have been for a clock or perhaps an exhaust vent for a dryer / autoclave.
Older hospitals tend to have floor drains in areas that use fluids. We had them in the 2 suture rooms in the ER. They were nice. I can remember pouring bottle after bottle of sterile fluid over a guy that had tried to unplug a drain with a caustic product and when it didn't work, he pressurized the drain and the caustic fluid blew out and all over him. Nasty. Our rooms were tiled in that beautiful pale green.
All the tile makes it easy to wash down the blood and chunks of guts that splatter all over from the saws and power tools.
Good condition.
