Grounds

Some other interesting buildings on the grounds. On the other side is an invading strip-mall.

Figured it would be a WalMart... They like to eat up a lot of land.
ACTUALLY THE BIG BUILDING IS HOME DEPOT, BUT GOOD GUESS NAUSEOUS.
HEY MOTTS, I THOUGHT THE GUEST COTTAGES TO THE RIGHT OF THESE BUILDINGS AS WE LOOK AT THE PICTURE, WERE VERY INTERESTING. ABOUT TEN WILD TURKEYS WALKING AROUND WAS A PLEASANT SURPRISE ALSO.
no, this building will BE a walmart :-(
PAINFULLY TRUE QUEST, BUT THE FIRST BRICK WALMART WOULD BE PRETTY COOL,HUH?-NAAA.
...No....
Motts, just wondering if you were able to get into
this building to take pics. Worked in their for 15 yrs
wrb03, yes I have but I have yet to get to the photographs... I'll be sure to put them up in the next gallery. I don't want to disappoint, but now that I think about it I might only have a couple of photos from this building, it was *very* cleaned out and empty.

I was wondering if this building was used for a specific reason or treatment for a specific disorder, or if it was a just a general dormitory...?
Motts,
From what I have been told prior to when I started worhking their , it was an admission building or atleast a couple of the wards were for one of the nearby counties, and the large medical building had a couple of wards for for adm to the county the hospital is in. The basement of the building was used for patients to work, which they had consignment jobs for a nearby publishing company that used stand were the Home Depot now resides. If you would like more info you can
e-mail me at wrb03@optonline.net. Looking forward to any photo's you may have.
Forgot to answer the latter part of your question.
From the late early 80's to approx. 92 it was considered the "Discharge Prep Unit" as "downsizing" was in full swing.
Been noticing you take alot of pics of this hospital and I'm constantly there, but I have yet to run into you. Check out my site if you have a spare second: http://www.flickr.com/...os/drawnawaygraphics

I love your work by the way
this is one of the most beautiful pics ive ever seen in my life,it would be the best album cover for a music group. it brings peace whrn you look at it.
you know, these long range shots remind me of Fort Totten in Queens, NY...a long abandoned army base
Old meets new....
drawnaway-those toothbrushes on your site match the crumbling paint colors... !
No one can beat Motts with perspective.
