It is insane to me that remains of a human being were allowed to be left behind like that. Reminds us lucky ones of the (lack of) value placed on people.
This whole photo is just amazing...the wall texture, the shelf, the jars...were stoppers still tight fitting? Figure they must fit pretty well since there is still liquid in the jars.
The liquid is famaldahide, which used to preserve the contents. Now that I think of it, still would be cool to have these samples, sure would make a lot of people freak out.
I actually would just like a few of the bottles, they are cool! Empty bottles, of course....
Can you imgine someone taking all those and keeping them in the fridge at home? Ugh. The bottles are very photogenic though.
Actually, it's amazing to me that they weren't vastly stolen. I mean, some people could have a field day with all these samples. Good and bad...
Those would make nice Nug jars.
The liquid might be formaldehyde, or another fixing/preservative agent.

I get the impression that these samples weren't intended for long-term storage because the paper label in the neck of the bottle would have prevented it making an air-tight seal [which is why you can see the level of the fluid has dropped, the tissue should be totally submerged].
This is still a beautiful shot art-wise Motts, regardless of the subject matter.
If the jars didn't have big hunks of decaying brain matter in them, this would make an awesome wallpaper, what with the colors of the jars and the textures of the wall behind them...
Mmm. More chunks 'o human. This is definitely not like anything you've posted before!
Again.. I am shocked. I don't care if they are 30, 40, or 80 years old. Why has no one regulated the disposal of this stuff? I love seeing it, kind of frozen in time and in a way I'm gald it wasn't gotten rid of. It just defies common sense leaving it gestating there. again, who know's what could be "brewing" there? I just don't get it. I mean, if you dared me to rub my face with a rag from someone who died in the 1600s of the plague or TB I wouldn't feel very comfortable about it. (Bad example), but age alone doesn't make everything "safe"...
if you squint hard enough the one to the far left could possibly look like a itty bitty fetus.
i see a hand.
