I see the soap dispenser, but why no towel rack?
This looks disturbingly similar to another tub room from another location you have an album of, Motts. I can't recall off the top of my head which though... anyone thinking the same or am I crazy?
The raised tubs are probably what you are remembering.
yeh kilt 7 it jogged my memory too
im not sure which album its in tho.
I really like the soft light in this one, beautiful shot!
anyone up for a bath?
I don't why, but Motts' great shots of institutional tub rooms completely creep me out...shudder...talk about nightmares...
DANG!!!!!!! I spoke too soon about the Baker-Miller !!!!...lol. Again with the community tubs, though......(frowns)..hope there were screens or curtains, at least.
The tubs are a bit creepy but not as bad as those hanging heaters you see sometimes. I do like the tiles though
Interesting the way, on the sides of the tubs, there's a section angled inwards. Was that maybe for the caretakers of the sick kids, when they had to kneel down to assist the child in the bathtub? This would spare them banging their knees against the straight side of the tub.
Again, a space that seems undisturbed and in great condition for an abandoned place.
i can just imagine this room full of people getting bathed...
Kilt7, I remember that album too and it does seem familiar. For some reason it seems dark and sinister, and a bit claustrophobic.
I'm with Clarabell and Sayward; my reaction was so strong i finally had to comment. i haven't seen the other one you guys are referring to, but if it's as baleful as this image i almost don't look forward to it.

almost. to evoke such emotion with a photograph is amazing. i stumbled upon this site through my interest in urban exploration, and until now never realized the artistic value of these old, forgotten places. really good stuff
I need more privacy, no public bathing..
vastarien: it might be because the tubs might have been used for therapy... i know that hydrotherapy is still used today... maybe they were just used to calm people down, relax them....
