U461

U461

A Soviet Juliett-class U461 submarine has been docked here for public tours since 1998 - it was a Cold War era sub armed with four intercontinental ballistic missiles that was in service until the 1980s.

Way too claustrophobic for me.
Aww no. I thought I'd be safe from big metal things in murky water this time around...*shivers!*

Great composition, though.
Reminds me of playing Battleship.
Interesting shot, Motts
Wonder if it smelled of cabbage...
I wonder if any water is inside that thing
Ari, you sank my battleship!
"Intercontinental ballistic missles". What an ominous phrase (still, even in this age).
...sorry, "missiles"...
The "u" prefix is surprising for an ex-Soviet sub. There's an original U-boat on the shore, not that far away, actually, in museum static display.
It takes a lot of coffee to run one of these.
Ha haa, I got to tour both the one in Chicago (German) AND the one in Manitowoc, WI.
