Do you know what the writing on the top says?
I can't pick it out, but it kindof kindof looks like "demarche", french for "saturday".
I could be wrong, but I think it says Lemache, a surname used in Belgium.
Wonder how long he was there.... Did he keep going or give up or worse...
Demarche, French for Saturday? I don't know what French you learned, but for Saturday, we say "samedi". Sunday, however, is "dimanche", which looks a bit like "demarche". We use "démarche" for things like processes and "taking steps to obtain something".
Until some freedom can scream my name.
What if those aren't marking days, but marking years?
They were marking something, but I don't know if they ever got out because they weren't marking it correctly.
Powerfully sad.
Wow, these types of markings are pretty standard in prisons.
