But, why in a school?
They dormed there.
Two thoughts come to mind.....

....one was remembering this turn-of-the-century converted resort in Wisconsin I attended camp at that had a few claw-foot cast iron tubs like this one....and how DIVINE it was to bathe in them!

....the other thought was the tub from the movie "The Money Pit" when that lovely porcelain tub falls through the rotted floor and shatters....and Tom Hanks' obnoxious laugh at it when it does!
I recall these tubs used to really scare me when I was younger. My great aunt had one in her house and it always creeped me out. Now I love them, they are so beautiful! Some friends of mine recently acquired a scrapped one that was about 100 years old, fixed it up real nice, and redid their bathroom with it. I do wonder how it go to the seemingly center of the room though...its so off-kilter and doesn't match up with any plumbing that I doubt this was its original location. But these things have got to be heavy so I don't see how anyone could have moved it (?) Its just weird, a bathtub sitting in the middle of a room...
as a person that has a phobia of old bathrooms and toilets, this gives me MAJOR creeps!!!!
The tub looks to have once been stuck up against that wall under the window. It was possibly moved after the fact.
I doubt you'll ever read this, Barbara, but it is quite common in abandonned properties to find baths in strange locations.

Any number of intruders could have some reason for trying to move it, even though t's heavy, from kids trying to do something moronic like riding it down the stairs/throwing it off a balcony to thieves who try to move it, and decide that it's too much effort.
my mom's house had a claw foot tub in an upstairs bathroom. i wished i took it out when we sold the house. the tub in this picture looks like it walked on it's own to the center of the room. "Nightmare Before Christmas" anyone? Where the 3 characters Lock, Stock and Barrel are in the claw foot tub and the tub is walking on its own!
Memories ... I had an old clawfoot tub in my house in California. I loved it! But I loved my sweetheart more, now I bathe in a "modern" fiberglass tub.
kinda creepy that its a tub and there is water on the side of it. Like someone just stepped out of it
I believe that when Motts gets too dirty doing a shoot he takes a bath, if the facilities are available. He is a very clean person.
Just look at all that dirt that came off me!
the tub itself looks relatively clean, no ?
From Wisconsin: I've often encountered these "lion paw" bathtubs in low-income apartments in Milwaukee. I live some 50 miles from there now, but I have one of these tubs here in my home. It's quite deep, feels like it's made of cast iron---and it keeps the bath water warm for a very long time!
why the hell is there a dam tub that small in the school and why is there ppolice still watching the building from what iread up top
thats like a fucking artifact!!! so good!
hehe its got feet, and the pipe at this end is its tail.
Robbie if you are still around; love to hear about your bathroom phobia; please let me know.
i have one of these tubs in my house...would trade it for a shower...nice pic. though...
Oh to take a bath in this room in the spring with that window and all.
Well the floor must be in good shape because thoes tubs are friggin heavy! I had to move one down a flight of steps once.
im surprised no one had run off with the tub considering the price of them now a days
Yeah well obviously the logistics of getting a cast iron claw foot bathtub out of a patroled abandoned building are a little daunting.

Not that I wouldnt pay a lot for one of these.
Interesting shot. What's most confusing is why people are baffled that there would be a bath tub in a building where somebody lived.
Cleanest girl ghosts in the east hehe
I'm amazed that hasn't gone through the floor and into the basement. Most of the floors don't look solid enough to hold a person, let alone a 400lbs(ish) cast iron tub.
jamie-

I'm suprised the tub hasn't run off on its own!
myname-
oh that poor tub got smushed! where did you find the pic?
We did not have bath tubs in the dorms... must have belonged to faculty....
I want that tub!!!
My parents had one, had being the word!
splish splash,and im takin a bath.lolz,sorry,its corny,i know.lol :<)
I was a student at Bennett from 62 to 64, and I lived in one of the upper rooms which had two window seats, with three windows. We had 4 of us in that room and the bathtub above looks very much like the one we used. I want to thank you for showing me the photos of the College. I just happened upon this website as I had been looking for anything about the school, as I loved it and had many happy moments there. It breaks my heart that it looks as it does in the photos, because it was such a beautiful campus, with the old stone buildings with a lovely small country town. Many of us remember sitting in front of the television for the hours of the Kennedy Assasination and following, and we all particularly remember where we were when Presidient Kennedy died. Thank you for keeping all those memories alive, as I am sure by now the buildings are gone, forever.
Thank you for the memories; the buildings are still extant, but demolition isn't far away...
How wonderful to see your post on your days at Bennett>Danica! This school has by far always been one of my favorite places on Motts site. A place i would love to visit before Demo. But, will never have the chance, Thanks for your comments. What a lovely school you went to!
Thank you Ms. Lamza for sharing with us a moment in time at this magnificent campus. November 22, 1963 is one of those moments in history where millions of people can simultaneously recall where they were. I remember that day very well. I can imagine all you girls gathered around the TV watching history unfold in black & white. It's something we more "seasoned" Americans can share.
My mother went to Bennett, and and her older cousin taught dance and drama there. They both loved Bennett very much. My great-uncle endowed Gage Hall. Seeing these beautiful but poignant photographs reminds me of so many of the stories I heard when I was growing up. Once, after I taken a much needed bath in a similarly wonderfully deep claw-footed bathtub, Mama noticed that I had left a dirty ring in the tub. First she scolded me, and then told me how mortified she had been, as a new student at Bennett ,when after leaving a similar ring in the bathtub, the "old" girl who came to use the tub next said to her "..and whom, pray tell , was your ladies maid last year???!!!
In more recent photos this bathtub has fallen through the floor. So glad Motts documented this place before it became unrecognizable.
