Rotting Away

A typical cell - the bench resembles a bed with a raised "pillow" on one side. There was no discernible lavatory in any of the rooms. Much of the roof rotted away in a few of these rooms giving off ample light (there was no constructed skylight).

doesnt look too wide, wouldnt wanna be too tall if you had to sleep there
OK, I can't sleep, so I'm on here.... Thanks for another gallery, Motts :-). I like the converging lines throughout this one, both the lines of the floor meeting the walls, and the brick lines, combined with the angle of the shot. No toilet. Wow. I hope they were at least allowed out for that whenever necessary :-0.
wow - that looks like it would have been so depressingly sparse when in use.
looks like a police holding cell rather than an actual prison cell with the lack of 'facilities' - one of those lovely ones where u have to pee in front of a guard and whoever else happens to walk past - not fun!
Amazing motts!!! I just love it.
It does look more like a holding cell...I wonder if all the cells were like this? Thanks for the new gallery Motts!
... With bars they blur the gracious moon,
And blind the goodly sun;
And they do well to hide their Hell,
For in it things are done
That Son of God nor son of Man
ever shouild look upon !

sure doesnt look to comfy does it. I think I'll book my lodgings thru someone else.
lonely
I was gonna say it looks really small & narrow.....and no bathroom. That would be a bummer....and lets add to that cold too. If the light was coming through the open roof than unless there had been a light in there it'd be pretty dark too. Yuck.......
You gave me the chills J-131274
Nice cell, nice life.
Prisoners most likely were given a bucket to pee&poop.
How wide is this room? Wide enough for a person to lay straight width wise? I'd say I'd rather sleep on the floor, but not if there wasn't a bathroom.
Brilliant Photo's .... Makes you wonder how long it would take for a Prisoner to go mad in one of those cells.... Hard wood "Bed" and no TOileting Facilitlys.........Would sure make you think twice about breaking the law again... If you had to go back to this place.... I wonder too if these old places have many ghosts in them... Alot of old Abandoned places Ive been to have had quite a few .... Especially the old prisons. Either way I would venture there at night... Looks scary enough during the day.
