Entrance to Old Wing

Entrance to Old Wing

After getting lost a few times, we finally found the entrance to the old wing of the hotel, which was closed a few years before the other parts. The door was propped open as shown by the antique-looking chair.

alright, this is a really fucking spooky shot--possibly even more so than that damn hallway...
yea garth is right spoooooooky
dude, you get freaked out by your own shit--but leave mine alone! (temperamental and possessive about scary stuff)
Why must every abandoned place have that lone chair just sitting about?
"Why must every abandoned place have that lone chair just sitting about?"

That's the rule, I believe.
ghost have to sit somewhere lol
"Go into the light....."
During the last fleeting moments of occupancy why would they leave so much behind? Was that chair placed there by an old employee? I love the fact that some one at some point used to sit in that chair. Not ramble so much, but I would rather have a home full of old used things than brand new things because each old used thing has it own story to tell.
It is possible that it was simply forgotten in the rush for other, more important things. For instance, the dining room was still full of tables and chairs. Maybe they just decided what was really important to take, and what could be left...
Maybe they thought that they would sell the site to someone else shortly after closing it? It would probably be more appealing (and easier for everyone) to just sell the site and the furniture all together. If that was the plan, looks like it didn't work out.

As always, fantastic pics Motts!
That is one sad lonely chair.
that is a little freaky!!!!!!! muhahaha
Motts, I totally love your chair shots!! Beautiful, yet spooky...
I must have changed my wallpaper photo 20 times in the last 48 hours. I love this shot!
It makes you ponder the thought "Who is this door propped open for?" Eerily disconcerting.
I wondered if an Urbexer leaves a lone chair at a random point as a calling card.
Whats with the chair?
this shot is waaaaaayyy to creepy. It almost looks as if someone is going to walk through the door down the stairs and sit in that spooky old chair!
fifth chair ! alright what are you trying to get to!?
Maybe the door would lock when it shut and someone didn't want to get locked in/out while they were alone.
Omg its the lonely chair!
My favorite of the lot, great job.
Enter those who dare. I thank you for your daring nature. For without it, we would not have these wonderful pictures!
Looks to me that they weren't planning on closing the hotel for good. That's why the dining room was intact and bathrooms look as if it could be used today
can i have the chair?
That chair still sits in that same exact spot
On checking back I'm glad so many have come to enjoy this.
So this is where Led Zeppelin got the idea for the song "Stairway to Heaven"...
Haunting.
