Not Happy

Not Happy

One of the two ostriches I could see; they were behind a flimsy fence and quite a good distance away. This animal seemed sick to me in that it wasn't upright and alert like the other one, but I don't know much about ostrich behavior...

That's a really good shot, and I hope the poor thing was okay.
Aw poor baby, i'm with jude i hope it's okay
Same. Gosh, poor little thing...
maybe it was sitting on eggs.
what was all the white stuff on the ground?
some kinfd of pellets?
im not sure what ostrich's eat ha
It looks very sick :( poor thing! I hate to see any animal suffer. It's too sad.
Poor things. You think they could have found a zoo or refuge to take them in. Living animals shouldn't been left behind with unused equipment.
Probably a good bet that this bird is sitting on a nest, they lose weight when they do.
LLAMA!!!! :)
oh man!!
Yea, it doesn't look to happy or like its feeling good, hope someone is really taking care of it. A great shot regardless.
Animals are my specialty. Don't worry. She's sitting on eggs. They have a very stubborn yet at the same time a fierce attitude. What i mean by that is she will stay on her eggs at any cost. If you get too close she would absolutely go on the defensive. Though they are beautiful creatures you must take into mind that one good kick can kill a full grown person.
awh :( i want one.
This makes me so sad, I think it's terrible they just left these poor animals behind to fend for themselves as best they can.
ASPCA needs to be called..So sad
I doubt that the American Society for the Prevention to Animals would be much help in Belgium..just a guess
they are wild animals, they can take care of themselves,or else all the lizerds and snakes would be in shelters too.
They'll do fine. We have ostrich farms here in Minnesota and they seem to well even in winter.
I live in South Africa and have spent quite a bit of time with Ostriches. The one in this picture is a female and is probably sitting on a nest of eggs. The male and female Ostriches take turns in sitting on the eggs
well u just need to not be such a fag and eat the dang thing
ostrish=food
Like more people said, she probably sits on a nest with eggs.
I have seen ostriches in africa, that only came of there egss, if a car get into 1 feet.
Poor thing, who would be cruel enough to leave those beautiful birds there?
Your lucky you didn't go near her, They can really hurt you. Johnny Cash had his stomach torn open by one.
Did they really leave these birds over there when the park was closed down? Can't believe it..
Please tell me someone left them free.. i saw other pictures of them as well....It;s heartbreaking and some-one should do somethinmg!!
True. I would call the local animal rescue center if I saw this...might be a good idea, as they may be left to go hungry! :(
LOL @ Manda. Belgium isn't America(:
Geen zorgen mensen , deze struisvogels behoren niet tot het park ! Ze worden tot op heden nog altijd goed verzorgd door hun eigenaars (dat is niet DadiparkNV)
