that looks like 1982
I'd go a little further back than 82.
We had phones like this in the projection booth of the theater i worked at , until 2005!!!!
my grandmother had one in her kitchen, it was lime green. i updated them last year. that thing had a ring like a fire alarm bell
I still have a phone like that it's the first push button phone that my parents got and it mounts on the wall we only use it if we lose power
TIme stopped, the people disappeared and left everything behind...
That used to be my phone at the activities desk in the south lobby. I worked there from 1984 till it closed.
I wish I could get hold of one of these wall-mounted dialler phones for my kitchen - though I don't think I'd paint it the same colour as the wall :-s
Hello? Hello? I guess no-ones there.
I am ever so sorry to have missed your calls.
Please don't stop , I love the sound of your voice, even if it only a recording.
"TIme stopped, the people disappeared and left everything behind..."

So what, its Marilyn Manson, dyed black stringy hair, no deoderant, and black fingernails as required by the "Death-Lovers Gothic Handbook" this year right? I wasn't sure if it was Ok to still liek Trent Reznor, now that hes middle aged, chubby, and has short hair.
You know thomas marilyn manson was never"goth"and the whole vampire thing was never part of the real goth movement you saw back in the early eighties with 45Grave and Mephisto Waltz and the like but you wouldn't know about that.I think we can safely say you are a common internet troll out to insult the fine people who enjoy this site.
We still have phones like this in my hospital. Crazy.
Thanks, Orchid, for defending me. I read Thomas's writings, and re-read Thomas's writings, and wonder why he's so hung up on Goth. I wasn't even thinking of "Nine Inch Nails" when I wrote it.
I am the very definition of contradiction, like my namesake. I was listening to NIN "The Day the Whole World Went Away" while reading your reply...

I saw this show the other night on one of those "edutainment" stations like Discovery, it was about "Real life" Vampires. I then thought of how seriously and rigidly I took myself when I was a teenager, and how much freer I had become as I aged.

It makes you wonder if those that reach Nirvana just get so free, that they just cease to exist as a physical being, since the constraint of living life itself is overcome? Just musing here of course, I don't have a clue what I am talking about.
Obviously.
Thomas,

your a pretty lonely guy, arntcha................awwwwwwww, cmere ya big lug (((((((((Thomas))))))))
Great Idea, anna, HUG him!

Damn, I should have thought of that!
A good hug can fix almost anything.
Hey, rich_edwards79, if you wanted, I could arrange for you to get a phone like that. I'm a member of the ATCA (Antique Telephone Collector's Association) and I'd be glad to help you out. Email me at: krasicky 49451 @yahoo.com (without the spaces, I'm hiding from spam and stuff).
Let me know what colour you might want, and it won't cost you a fortune. I have some good friends who probably have just what you want...
I want that phone
What if you REALLY needed a phone and were panicking and running around...but they're so camoflaged...hmm...great pic! =^__^=
Back in the 80s when i used this phone Just kidding.
The 80s were awesome. Wonder what this hotel looked like back then
phone call for Mr. Ripper, Mr. Jack T Ripper, please pick up a white house phone...thank you
The pines look very nice. In summer time at the ski area there was a DJ we party most of the night. Anyone remember the out door deck? Little by little things are comeing back to me .
I have one of those in my kitchen.... with a real bell and everything...

:P
Is that an oldie but goodie!
I have a dial phone similar to that next to my computer. I love the sound it makes
This snap brings me back the smell of nostalgia . With my grandfather i used play on his phone which he considered most precious really, it makes me cry
this is so early 80s, that pred8s email, cell phones, dot coms et all
I would like to have a phone like this; sure, it had a cord (love the cordless phones!) but you have to appreciate it nonetheless. It is really wild how they spackleed the phone to look like the walls. I wonder if anyone had trouble finding it? LOL!!!
LOL! I meant spackled. Not spackleed lol!!
Looks like the 60s to me.
RINGGGGGG.................RINNGGGGG.................

Good Afternoon ! This is the Pines Hotel. How may I help you ?

May I please speak to my son Norman.

I am sorry Ma'am but Norman is assisting one of our guest's who is having difficulty with the shower. And then after that he has to take care of a few cars that have been abandoned in our parking lot.

Oh, I see. Please have Norman call his Mother as soon possible.

Yes Ma'am. Would you care to leave a message for Norman.

Yes sir. Please let Norman know that a plain clothes detective has been to the house this morning. He has a few questions concerning a missing woman from a real estate company in Phoenix, Arizona along with $40,000 of currency. I keep telling Norman to stop talking to these woman who sleep in their cars all night long but he just will not listen.

Yes Ma'am. We sure will give Norman the message. Will there be anything else ?

Oh, I almost forgot. Please ask Norman to pick up my dresses from the dry cleaners after he is finished with work today. And please do not let Norman play in the swamp anymore during his lunch break. I am getting very tired of cleaning the mud off of his shoes every couple of weeks.

Yes Ma'am. Will there be anything else ?

No Sir. Thank you and have a good day.

Yes Ma'am and thank you too. Have a nice day.
IT LOOKS LIKE THE TELEPHONE WAS PAINTED RED YOU CAN SEE REMNANTS OF IT
I ceased to exist as a physical being : I commented on this on the monastery location.(if it's still there)
Its a shame it will end up in a dumpster eventually since the place is too guarded and even the dumpster would be guarded since many of these companys guard the dumpster out of fear of being sued should someone get hurt dumpster diving
I swear to GOD....my parents had a phone like this in their house....that they used....up until just a couple years ago. Its hard to get older generations to upgrade and get with the times.
I think someone's on hold....
i love this shot, its almost like it was never abandoned, very cool.
look like the 1970s
Ah, the old rotary phone-definitely NOT a soap dispenser! ; )
My grandmother (now deceased who lived in Tupelo, Mississippi) used too own a few rotary phones, and I do vividly remember making telephone calls on her phone in the 1970's. Rotary telephones definitely do predate the 1970's, as far as the American public having too use rotary telephones are concerned.
it must be hard to text from that phone
There are phones just like that (and they still work) in the old, abandoned dispensary on Kennedy Space Center.
Prob went to waste, what a shame.
