Wow....even the cielings outside look the same. I love this place!
Cleaned up a bit, I could sit out here in a rocking chair and drink a mint julep (or lemonade, or iced-tea....anyone care to join me? ;-) ). Love the collumns and the vanishing perspective.
I love that its surrounded by natural screens. I could look at the trees all day.
Very pretty.
wow wallapaper this is awsome i like the transition from nature to the decaying building
I love the glowing of all the vegetation.
Looks awesome now, I can imagine how it would look in the middle of winter....
Nicely set up Motts! Loev that crack in the ceiling!
LOVE THIS!
I can imagine, in another time, that there might have been rocking chairs on that lovely porch. It would seem they are gone, now, and everyone is off their rocker. *sorry*
Just think, at one time these were "pillars" of the community. :)
The facility I work at used to bring all the residents outside once a day...rain or shine...and let them sit. It was thought to help with their "conditions". That was before my time, though. They tore down the old institution that was built in 1898...it became too dangerous...but I always wished I could have seen it in it's "glory days". It was know then as the Trempealeau County Asylum and you can still find some pictures of the old building.
This is beautiful...It really does look like its sitting on a cliff or something..
Oooh. Imagine how beautiful this would have been back in the day...it's still beautiful now!
I'd like that.
it was so different awhile ago. this building is a loading dock now. its a shame that they turned something so beautiful into something so ugly.
Oh no, that's horrible :_(
as anyone else noticed that opacity claims that this place was renovated or destoryed in 2002...and that opacity calims to have takent the pictures in 2005...
Yes, it's an evil conspiracy.

Actually, the reason is because most of the campus WAS demolished or renovated in 2002 - when I visited in 2005, there was only a single abandoned building left. The dates are general - it would be impossible to nail down a particular year if the site was being demolished over a long period of time, which they usually are.
i went to this place in about 1993. The place was crazy, and there was about 4 buildings, maybe 5 still up then. one of the places seemed like it was for kids. it had a gymnasium (with really warped floors) and a tall ceiling. on the wall was a weird book case that went all the way to the ceiling.

Im not going to lie, we were dumb teens then making a mess and playing around. I had a VERY eerie time there.

there was also a building that was in the round, had a court yard in the middle, and this building seemed to have alot of doctors tables, and rusted out halogen lights laying around.

There were also tunnels, that were meant for utilities, that connected a few of the buildings..but required too much hunch over and stuff to really explore. i remember a few of these rooms for sure. great pics
Imagine how cool it would be if they took pictures inside the tunnels. Now THAT would be creepy as hell.
