Love the writing on the bathtub and the walls.
Crap like this makes me sick. If you're going to write on walls use a grease pen that freaking comes off!!
Actually, there's a cool story surrounding this writing LMS. Maybe I'll take some time later and dig it up.
It is very dramatic.
I would demand a wallpaper of this!
:)
I dont care if there's a story behind it, its desecrating a beautiful old building.
this is epic and who cares that the building has writing on the walls if the fate of this building is coming soon not to be mean but this is harmless
For sure it's better then some gangsta tag or some curse word. It would be amazing too walk into this room and be surrounded by such an epic story.

Did you feel any chills Motts? I know I would have.
oooh, I saw this picture somewhere (can't remember) it's creepy!
The rantings of an unbalanced mind...
If that doesn't photograph as rock album art... I dunno what does... Amazing.
That's a great analogy Weebs!
AMAZING!
LOVE this one....yeah, wallpaper!
give me the paint remover, lets bring it back to what it use to look like
Woaaaw cool
wow this is awesome! why don't some people think the same thing?
Definitely the best pic of the Gennie room I've ever seen!
that dead-on angle is really effective
wow i can't even imagine what i'd feel walking into a room like that
I agree with LilMissSpelunker, it looks stupid
Can you spot the SC tag? :D
What did it all say?
Hey motts do you happen to remember.
Great angle - I also am usually against painting on the walls, but this is an absolutely chilling and fantastic project.
Such a powerful story in the walls where it took place, amazing
Looks like someone so wired on meth 'wrote' all those words.
As I am, An amazing graffiti artist.
I cant speak for who did this whether they had intent to vandalize
but by the form itself you can see
that it was intended to bring a dramatic effort to the room. And I personally like it, It brings a certain atmosphere i have never experienced
that is art
These shots are amazing. Has anybody ever transcribed the writing on these walls? I'd be very curious to know what it all says. Normally I'd write it off as graffiti, but obviously somebody really had something to say to go to such an extent.
It almost looks like they found some patients file and wrote down some doctor notes
These hospitals are going to ruin because of neglect. I feel its better for someone to use them for art ,such as what this person did, rather then leave it for vandals.
this is stunning.
Better this than that Cannibal Corpse shout out. Or the rubber dude thing! This looks like something out of Fringe. In the tub on the right, it almost looks like fingers reaching out.
Hello Adam I would like to play a game.
Those of you that are having a fit about the writing on the walls would do well to look into the story behind it before spouting your mouths off. The story written on these walls directly ties to someone that was once a patient kept behind those walls. I think it is a wonderful tribute to her and the other lives ruined there. Would you rather see curse words tagged by vandals?
This is not desecrating a beautiful old building. Read the story. This room was a scene of torture and the writing commemorates one of the victims. It is a very powerful comment.

This article tells the story... Haunting upon reading the article and understanding what happened, but beautiful in the way Gennie was commemorated in the paintings.
Looks to me like someone has too much time on their hands.
striking
Fascinating how some people hate this and some people totally get this - yeah, a patient's file, and how would she feel seeing what ultimately became of her official report? I've been wandering into old buildings since my dad started taking me as a very small kid but I've sure never run into anything like THIS! I hate people who tag these places, but this goes waaay beyond tagging - this captures the heart of what this place once was. This is a gold mine no matter the true story behind the 'artist'! Mott, ya rule. Great pics, great angles and the way you've set up the site is also very fun! Way cool.
BTW, ya oughta read the story knottypolkadotty posted above about the patient this refers to - all of us who love these places are fortunate we've been born into the world just after so much sick, human experimenting was done. Horrible! May Gennie RIP!
this may be graffiti, but goddamn does it make for an extremely dramatic and unnerving photo. beautifully framed and toned.
I managed supported housing programs in Cambridge from 1989-91 and worked closely with the hospital to get people out. It was a typical state hospital institution with some competent, well intentioned staff who a few patients were fortunate enough to work with. I was familiar with the tunnels and used them from time to time in the winter. The clock tower had four faces with a clock on each, none of which ever had the correct time. I am glad it is gone!
God love you, Gennie x
The writing is on the wall...
Scary bedtime story!!!
they painted over this, it kinda makes me want to cry
This is amazing...Wallpaper Please!
the vandalizer has some seriouse issues.
im very suprised there is no vandalizism, nobody would dare to touch that!
This is an amazing picture...those who are complaining don't know what they're talking about.
THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN AWAKINING TO THE WORLD OF WHAT WE DO TO LIVING BEINGS, HUMANS AND ANIMALS. WHAT A SICK WORLD THIS HAS BECOME AND CONTINUES TO GROW WORSE EVERYDAY. HUMANITY HAS FALLEN TOTALLY OUT OF HUMAN AND WE HAVE NOW MADE THIS A REAL HELL ON EARTH. THIS POOR WOMAN LIKE MANY OTHERS WHO WERE NOT MENTIONED WAS SOMEHOW LEGALLY TAKEN AND TESTED AND PROBED AND TORTURED , EXPERIMENTED ON AND VERY SADLY BROUGHT TO HER DEMISE. DONT EVER BE FOOLED INTO THINKING THIS HAS STOPPED, NOT WITH ANY LIVING CREATURE AND THATS WHAT MAKES US SUCH A VERY VERY SICK SOCIETY. WHEN GOD ALLOWED US FREE WILL I TOTALLY BELIEVE THAT IS WHERE HE DID FUCK UP !
why would you want it to come off? had this not been there when i went, i never would have known who this girl was. now i have a huge attachment to this place. and a deep sympathy for anyone who has had to go through what she did. i think the artist, kristyn vinikour is bad ass for havin the balls to do this. hell yea girl.

so does anyone know where you would be able to get a copy of the actual patient file? what all the walls said? when i went i didnt shoot all four walls.

anyway. bomb. peace
This is amazing.
Wicked!!! i would actually sit in one of those tubs and just be moved by this

Seriously; this is ART. wonder if it's a real story or a made up one-- but never mind, it's just beautiful.
