WOW! That is an incredible shot!!! And look how well those tiles have held up! This place is amazing!
Unusual to see wood veneer applied to
a steel door, at least in my experience.
Those tiles look like coated cinder blocks. The school I work at is built with them too...
I like the light and shadows on the floor...
Let's all go in and close the door behind us and see how long we can stay in the room.
Left alone, those tiles will outlive all of us!
my favorite part is the peeling of wood on the surface of the door. not sure why.
Do you ever bring a light kit with you on projects?
This is an AMAZING shot!! And is that the smallest window I've ever seen, or is that something else...
Well, the slot in the door would make it seem to be an observation room or something...but wouldn't peeling wood be more dangerous to someone than metal? Think of the splinters!

Kris
very similar to eloise state hospital in michigan thats where us history lovers hang out at night
no thrill seekin here just plain old interested in the history good or bad
the thin slat of wood was placed over the metal so that it would not frighten those that were going in. It was made to decieve them before they walked in. When they touched the door from the otherside, they realized the wieght and the construction of the door. As there eyes opened in fear of what would now happen to them behind that door once they knew they could not get out. Nothing was done to helo them,...they would have fun watching the abuse, making them think to themselves,...now they know not to ever do bad or drug,...then things like that wouldn't happen. They were at their mercy of bad treatments. the words Merry Christmas and Happy New Year were placed as what they knew it would never be for the victims,..and the evil unbalanced pleasure the so call staff would enjoy. They should have wrote on that door,.."WHO REALLY IS THE SICK MINDED ONE"
I found an article yesterday on the Yahoo page about this place...i had to see more!! From what I learned yesterday this was one of the Withdrawl rooms they put patients in as they came to the place..they had a nurses window to observe them..once they withdrew the drugs from theyre systems, they would be allowed to go in to the regular population..I feel very fortunate to have found this plase...captivating!!
