Screened

Screened

An interesting day room, with the radiators and windows screened off with a heavy mesh. A nurse's station lies beyond the window in the wall.

why screen this off?
makes for a great picture though :]
my guess is that it's to prevent patients from jumping out of the window or scolding themselves?
Scalding even!
They could scold the selves if they wanted I've done it when I've done something stupid.
:-)
such a lonely photo
That room really is falling apart isn't it. Interesting how time stands still for these places really. When all the people left and didn't look back....kinda sad for the building. Thats why nature takes it back with all the vines and trees and bushes etc. Interesting photo Motts....Thanks....
Awsome shot. I love the trees behind the window.
Kind of makes me think a wee bit of a Silent Hill game, what with the screens. In any case, great shot, great composition!
Very nice
think about that little space between the cage and the window- - - - think about how badley they just wanted to just walk up to the glass an peer out-- years of tourture
If you look through the window on the back of the room, it looks like a scary face, its horrible!! V.evil looking!!
It's amazing how little time it takes for these buildings to break down on the inside. I mean, within a year most places have tons of peeling paint and ceilings fall down.
yard anybody go out now or two days from now
The screen was installed in the 1950s primarily to prevent the drug addicts from jumping out of the window (and secondary to prevent burning themselves on the radiators.) I watched the documentary about the island.
have u ever heard of The Junkie Priest?????
Thank you for the pictures of this hospital the screen in this picture must have been a psych ward or what is called a psych ward today. I worked in one years a go.
