Rotunda

This would be looking from the foyer to the central room of the first floor. Almost everything was covered in gray ash, untouched for years.

Hmmm... a fresh coat of paint and... well maybe not.

Sweet Shot!
Scary! it's like the walls are shedding...
Wow, wicked shot! You don't tend to see that wall colour too often.
it looks like mosaic, very cool..
Weebs, you and your "fresh coats of paint"!
oh my !
Wow,, now that is decay. Must of smelled very peculiar.
But the woodwork looks new!
The decay of the walls looks so beautiful that I would almost be tempted to keep it that way if it were mine.
the blue is amazing and i love the charred walls... such a contrast!
wallpaper mayhaps?
looks like snakeskin on the walls
This image is so sad, yet so interesting, cause we dont see something like this too often, most of the time a building is way too far gone after a fire, but here you were able to capture the interesting coloring and textures and patterns left behind by fire, it really is an A+ photo! Its just so wonderful! and full of fantastic things too look at!
The Black Cathedral waits for a new supplicant, draped in the echoes of bloody devotion and the fever-dreams of need.
The colors in this shot are fantastic, very rich. Nice job, Mr. Motts.
amazing shot!
such a gorgeous room.
What an amazing shot Motts, a great one for posterity for sure.
OH - MY - GOD!

Speechless!
BEAUTIFUL
great ; beautiful
EW !
i hate things that look like that . i dont know what but it just bothers me .
geez sasha did you really have to spoil that beautiful moment???
people these days... :)
What odd tiles those walls have for them to be peeling off like paint, unless its paint and not tiles? Wonder what the central room was used for anyway if anything?
having moved to Phoenix I find that my random visits to WSH are one of the things I miss the most.
i am very jealous right now. until they started demolition the rotunda had already caved in. the closest i came to it was a hallway where i could kind of see through inside of it
My mother worked at Worcester State for years. My sister and I would ride our bikes to see our mom. Sometimes she would be on the grounds with the patients. (They always used to give her the most violent patients) but they would be kittens in her hands, my mom was a sweet, beautiful soul and these patients responded to that. This looks like one of the rooms for hanging out if you weren't to far gone and did not need to be strapped down. My sister and I used to hang out at the State Hospital with the patients and we toured the underground tunnels. I don't see any photos of the tunnel rooms. It may be old and beautiful but many people suffered here and were murdered by staff.
On the right up-front is a headless woman
place-kicking a football.
did it still smell like smoke?
ever think about getting into a photography job?? you would be great!!!! alot of the pictures in here i've seen look like some of the professionals they take. you should look into that...i hear there's good money in photography. i think i want to be a pharmacist or a model of a fashion designer....i don't know
gosh, judging from that photo that could've been an awe inspiring room!
it looks like its falling apart but its really nice!
Cool shot, very interesting.
My first impression too... looks like a mosaic.
Awesome! & the wainscoating is still in like new!! Amazing!
Hmm. I see there is already an anonymous so I will have to be Anonymous # 2.
Nice shot. Looks like something out of Dracula.
