OK, not sure how , errr....."uninformed" this will sound, but ......what are the things in the cage? They look like drinking fountain heads, but....that can't be right....and, too many ,too close together to be sinks. Any ideas?

They are temperature control gauges - the nurse or attendant would stand behind the meshed structure and control the water temp and pressure. A closeup can be found here and some discussion about communal showering here (both are from an older gallery).

Motts: Thanks for the info. Temperature guages make sense. Hadn't though of that . Been visiting for about 2 years now, I think, and still love your shots. I've got to find some places near me to check out. Meanwhile, keep 'em coming.....(please and thanks ;-))
