Large Auditorium

Large Auditorium

This large auditorium was great. The white streak is actually daylight coming in from a small hole in the ceiling.

there was a boy born here and died in there also. A group ok kids later took pictures, in the rreflection of one of the pictures was a small boy. when one of the kids was sleeping after that day he saw a little boy, scared to move or scream he laid in bed still. the boy said to the kid stay out of my home and ill stay out of ur home and drifted away... this is were it happen.........stay out or beware
do you guys ever get creeped out in these place? probably a really dumb question, but i just had to ask it
I only get creeped out when there's someone else inside.
the story about the little boy is not correct nor probably true
I use to hang at Byberry when I was just a youngster. Oh how I miss it . Those were the good old days.
Getting high, drinking, walking through the buildings in the pitch dark. And running from the cops. Again how I miss those days.......SIGH
One of the best photos in the whole bunch.
i saw a picture of this when byberry was open, and it's crazy how much it changed
we used to go right outside the auditorium onto a set of steps, then we'd go up steps onto a roof and we finally found out how to get to the highest roof... go behind the stage all the way to the left then theres stairs and a long ladder... you can see like everything...
Yo Eddie, that orange ladder ROCKS! I've been up there many times. How about that huge-ass fan up there? That's unbelievably monstrous!
Which is worse? People tagging Byberry or you b*tiching about it in every picture? We get it, you don't like the graffiti.

Motts, is the lighting (other than the shaft of sunlight) in this picture flashlights? It's got a sort of strange greenish hue.
For some reason, duriong the day, light appears green in many parts of Byberry. Motts has a few pics here with greenish hue all taken during the day.
Algae, maybe? Either on the windows where the sunshines in or on the walls themselves.
i was in the auditorium up on the catwalks last week, and when i came down, my friend in front of me said "oh my god!" and when i looked out into the seats, i gasped. there were about 50 prints of an artwork with a little girl holding some kind of musical instrument pasted onto the first 10 or so rows of seats. it scared the shit out of me. i looked to see what the original is called, and its called "between acts"... does anyone know anything about the person who did this? cuz i'm sure they'd like to know that they almost made me piss my pants. i think thats what they wanted from all that work.
you know the abandoned warehouse on jacksonville road in our hometown? thats where they got those posters... they being the people from no-trespassing.net
-natalie's cousin
i just went there 10/17 and the pictures of the little girl are still there....they are covering just about every seat
Does anyone want one? I also have a chunk of the collapsed north stairwell in W-7.
I first read about the story of 'the little boy' in 'Wierd NJ' magazine. It was in a 2002 issue. Wierd NJ has a website, but I don't think they archive articles.
The story was remitted by a girl we all know that had one of the first ever Byberry websites. It's since been taken down, but thanks to Weird NJ, the story will live forever and it's cool knowing the authoress, Shanna.
Or somebody made a story up and passed it on and everyone's imagination flew away with it. I won't say I do or don't believe in ghosts. I personally have never experienced anything but if I ever do then I'll know.
Oh, it was passed to her, but her version made it to print.
Damn...that's what it looks like in the day? Yeesh...
Without looking at a pic, I can visualize what this auditorium used to look like. Kinda creepy, but normal.
i was just in this place just last night wit a group of my buddies and to be honest its exactly wat the description says, and auditorium...and thats it, nothing special about...sry believers.
this auditorium was preety neat
one place I havent been isn't it near the old mansions the big brick looking house and it looks like it has no windows
THE MAN you got your shit all wrong sprading faluse stories to the puplic like that the person who this happen to has his own web site telling you the whole storie and aparently your story is different from his and I believe him not you
I FOUND IT !
Yes, you found it, with a little help, lol.
whats up drew
this auditorium is big as shit !
For those who don't know, these pictures were taken during summer, when the trees and bushes have GREEN leaves on them. Sunlight reflects off the foliage and that's where the greenish hue comes from.
yo that is scary i wouldn't go in there. ur crazy
I grew up in the Frankford section of Philly, and when I was about 10 years old, I was in an accordian band that played a Christmas concert in the big auditorium. I have not been back to Phila. for over 30 years, and its quite a shock to see what happened to Byberry. Where does Philadelphia send mental patients today?
wow! This place rocks! Full of death you got to love this place!
Whoa!
I kind of wonder the same thing as Jim does, but I think that the answer probably is the streets, unfortunately...

It just makes me so pissed that everywhere it seems no one cares about the mentally ill anymore, just throw 'em out, close down and "save" some money.
I have one of the projector knobs.
Wow. The light beam is awesome. This room is almost trashed beyond recognition. Great picture.
