The firehouse looks so "alone".
Firehouse: "I'm still useful, aren't I?"

Yes, looks neglected, almost as if emotionally.
Sort of sad. I bet it was really nice at one time. So Motts did you go inside it at all? I bet there would be some neat things in there.
I peeked in one night, but unfortunately I didn't give it a full looking over.
Motts has this place been torn down at all.
look at the size of the weeds on the driveway! I can't take my eyes off them...
if theres an old fire truck in there, i could hot wire it and we coudl all go for a ride!!!! (not kidding - i can hot wire old cars - but now new ones - its impossible)
omg it looks so sad and lonely but i dont think i would have went inside either
Did someone say WEEDS! (oh,sorry)

wonder if thats'
the hose drying
tower in back
Remember to always dial 333!
Looks like the old station used to hold two engines and possibly a tanker.
that would make a nice living space ...a nice vacation spot
I wonder if the pole works?
looks almost like a barn. well, the firefighing saying is "keep it in the barn"
Awesome shot. Lonesome firehouse...
Best comment award goes to: Sparky "Remember to always dial 333"!

It really does look like a barn! LOL!
I passed by this last week and I pray they aren't tearing it down,it had all fences up around it. This is almost mesmerizing up close, its beautiful.
This is so beautiful,I passed by it the other day and it is closed off,I heard it is being renovated.
Aww it's so cute!
i grew living on the other side of the fernce by the fire house brings back a lot of memories if the trees were gone you could see the howes on lowell av.
I would jump at the change to rent / purchase that and turn it into living space. Would make a great house.
i worked there for 18 yrs good job!!!!!

I believe this was finally torn down, lioddities.com has tons of pictures of the inside of the firehouse
The firehouse still stands. But the rest of the Cochoran building is gone.

Mel, are you sure about it still being there, want to say I am pretty sure its gone now.
Beautiful building.
The firehouse is still their. The town of Islip is doing a restoration of it. It's the only standing building from the site.
cant wait for it to finally be made into a museum cifd has a rich history and it all needs to be shared with the public
