now that ive looked at it again, it reminds me a bit of byberry (which i miss a lot :( )
that is an awesome skyline u rock
was this building built in the 1880's? Its very 1970/80's boxy.
No, while the hospital dates back to the 1800s, this particular building was constructed circa the 1950s, I don't have an exact date.
All the psych buildings from the 50's look very similar to this..
That could be anywhere..even ..Russia
An interesting shot out of a boring building.
Dr. Domenic Vella was my father and retired in 1978. He treated patience their for many years.
The sky is great, looks like there's a vortex just above the hospital. Has anyone seen that 80's movie, The philadelphia experiment? It looks just like that!
I miss this place. All the people who worked here were amazing and so dedicated,My grandma and 2 aunts worked here for as long as I can remember and I grew up on all of these grounds with them visiting, and making (some of the safer!!) patients happy, there were so many stories and things I have learned here.It is almost majestic and your pictures are so captivating, you should be so proud of yourself as these mean a lot to me and my family and you have done this place a true justice.
I live in Great River and in 1997 my mom and I were driving by after we dropped my sister at Drivers Ed at NYIT and I saw a nurse in a window and I told my mom and she told that the place was closed down and abandoned. I swear to this day I really saw a nurse there and it wasn't my 14 year old mind playing tricks on me.
Is that the Corcoran?
i worked in corcarn building in the kitchen for 37 years. sure miss that job, it was a great job working for the state of new tork.
i was housed at central islip when i was in college. new york institute of tech also shared the campus. my room was 8 by 10. it definitely had history. this takes me back.
looks like the local ER
WORKED THERE UNTIL CLOSURE IN 1996. MANY FRIENDS, SOME STILL WITH ME. MANY MORE MEMORIES WILL BE WITH ME FOREVER. I GREW UP IN SO MANY WAYS THERE. i WILL ALWAYS TREASURE THE TIME SPENT THERE.
Actually it's still a good building and modern but it has been abandoned? There are so many hospitals in Indonesia which has worse design and still uses until now.
Just recently finding out about my fathers side of the family's history. Turns out that my Grandfather's brother was hospitalized there and died there in 1926. Looking at his death certificate it listed this hospital as place of death. Got curious and looked this up, wow what a scarey place.
