Way cool! I really like all the different colors in this shot.
is it just me or are the skylights on the black roofed section covered over?
I think the black covered part on the left is covered by a tarp or something. The roof must of been leaking pretty bad and they covered the roof to help preserve the old prision.
is it jus me or does the red part of the roof look brand new
yeah the red does look rather new...
I guess the erd roof is part of the restoration.
They must be restoring it or something. They don't look like 1800s material.
It looks like they had repaird that section of roof.
I live within walking distance of Easter State , have visited many times, but never saw some of these 'walls'. Eastern State has been going through renovations over the past few years to preserve it and its history. Various sections have been closed up during these times. Thanks for the great photos.
Haviland designed it.
Dickens came to see it.

Over time they wedged new corridors among the old.

They did cover the skylights - years ago.
Probably un-covering them now.
These actually look pretty good.
I love your skyline pictures.
My guess is that the brown roof would be the original, red is the newer/restored roof and the black tarp was used to cover possible holes/cracks in the roof until it was fixed.
The red part of the roof looks new
HEY I can see the bridge that I take when I go down the shore during the summer in the background!!!
so jealous of your ability to go where no tourists have gone before... at least someone can get into these places and take great photos for the rest of us to view.
This is so bizarre. Looking at the original design It's like they filled those empty areas with more cells blocks to accommodate an increasing population, With total disregard for the architecture.
@MR-My cousin lives within walking distance of ESP (10 minutes). He took me to Terror Behind the Walls tonight.
