That door appears to be partially open. I wonder where it leads to.
youve just saved a piece of history
Any Idea Who The Artist Of Paintings is?.
If the artist was an inmate, he certainly could've made an honest living painting...
an opening!
They used to have a band comprised of prisoners who would broadcast on the radio on Sunday in the 1940's and 1950's.
It's awesome they are going to preserve and restore these! :)
Art & ruins.....
Just a guess here...but I think the painting is of one of the saints. Staints are often depicted like this is pictures.
I too think this is a painting of a
Saint...the skinny door is actually big...the door slides on rollers so is only partially opened..Loved all these pictures and the perserving of history.
If it is truly the office of a Roman Catholic Priest (chaplain) it was most likely either the Pope at the time or the Cardinal/Archbishop of whatever Archdiocese the prison was located in.
I love checking out the old hardware! Yes, nowadays........people are paying alot for that old wornaway look on wood items.
It must be scary prison night on the Travel Channel. HaHa
It could be Saint Leonard of Noblac, patron saint of prisoners.
