Ward

As a result of an aging population of prisoners at Eastern State, about 20 cells were converted into a Hospital Department in 1880, replacing the original hospital in the administration block.

This recovery room was added in the 1940s.

Love IT!

Looks like some shot from an old horror flick.
This is simply amazing. So realistic with extraordinary detail I can't shake the feeling that I'm in the same room. I'll be dreaming in this location tonight I'm sure.
this is a good picture:)(Y) joy
if this is the recovery room, I would rather stay sick
rreminds me something from young frankenstein movie
Great shot, love the arched doorway.
black and white makes this pic look cool
This looks like something after a bombing... Love the starkness and decay. Exceptionally crisp pic.
THE ROOM LOOKS AS IF IT HAD BEEN BUILT BACK IN THE EARLY 1800's
with the lighting this looks like a still from an episode of The Twilight Zone
Looks like a very creepy place but interesting.
Looks like the prison from John Carpenters Vampires.
I have no hope of recovery, so this room is perfect for me just as it is.
It's amazing what gets left behind when a place is vacated.
Again, something else that was off limits when I was there.
They sure have come a long way.
Beautiful! I wish there was somewhere in Oregon like that.
this is dang cool. nothing like that around here.
Ooooh my god. That is so awesome.
I live so close, and I've never been here!
This is absolutly amazing!!! Talk about history coming to life!
this photo is stunning
It looks like a torture chamber.
Amazing!
I don't think I'd want to be sick in there. Of course it had to look better than this back when it was in use (at least one hopes so)...if not getting better would be kinda hard. Also some of those beds look like they'd be pretty painful to lay down in.... Nice picture Motts.....as always. Esp it being in b & w.
looks like something from the movies! truly amazing Motts!
this one just looks so cool
it's creppy
Totally creepy but seriously amazing
This totally gave me chills!!!!!!

Awsome reminds me of the corps bride
OMG! That's really creepy!
It's is very cool! Check out the old metal tables and the low hanging light, arched doorway. I can't imagine..... or maybe I could how it looked in it's hayday.

The film 12 Monkeys was filmed here. In particular the scenes where
Pitt and Willis are in the mental hospital. Great phots and amittedly kinda spooky.
@Nik-I saw a clip of that movie a few hours ago. I attended Terror Behind the Walls with my cousin and it was AWESOME!!!! After the attraction, we went in this room with like 4-5 TVs and watched the clip.
