Visage

Looking inside the oven; there was a cone shaped cutout in the back with a hole at the tip, as well as two shafts above and below; one or all I assume led out to the chimney stack. A trench of unknown depth lay about two feet inside the lip, it might have been used for heat or collecting ashes.

Unfortunately I couldn't stay too long, but it was some trip!

nice as always mr motts!
Love that last shot. That pit is disturbing from this perspective! Thanks for another great set!
The lip was probably for ash collection. It would be bad luck if you lost some.
You never let me down. These were awesome
Motts want was this used for. Thanks
the cone shape and the two holes, one had to be for the heat source. Unless there was another one in there.
More from your DARK side please Mr. Motts!!!!!

Thanks Motts For sharing with us again and for taking time to explore these old places and share the history of our past that many of us know nothing about.
There all so amazing. You always have such gorgeous shots. =]
Nice shoot as always. There's some fancy grave markings there! My grave will likely have a toilet on it.
///////////////hauntingly Beautiful
Exquisite gallery, Motts. Absolutely exquisite.

I applaud you!
Thanks for showing us the inside. Iv never seen that before.
This is by far, my favorite gallery. I loved the snow!
Great gallery. Will have to look at it again when I get home--my monitor at work sucks :(
The "cone shaped cutout in the back with a hole at the tip" is the business end of a burner. Pity you couldn't/didn't get pics of the other side as I am very curious as to the manufacturer of said burner....

Wonderful gallery!
I think I learn something new about old architecture every time I visit your site. This was a really stunning set! Thanks for posting it, as always.
simply fantastic gallery!!!
I only found your site today, Mr Motts, and I have to say that out of the four or five galleries I've looked at so far, this is my favourite. Just beautiful.
I think the hole in the cone shape at the end was probably for the nozzle to spray fuel oil atomized with air. The cone shape itself for a spriral effect for better air/fuel mixture. The lower shaft for the cooler air inlet and the upper one for the outlet or chimney.

I could be wrong but this is kinda my field. Great work. You should put out a video collage of the places you've been and have yet to go. I'd watch it.
this is where I'm going on my next date!
i wouldnt wanna be stuck in there .
Receiving vault.
Mausoleums.
The third thing I look
for in a cemetery is
the dirt pile.Thats' right.
They need some place
to put the soil they've
taken out of the graves.
Then they'll need some
of that soil as back-fill.

So ends another exciting
time,here,at...OPACITY
Motts you are a fantastic photographer! I found your site yesterday and was sucked in for hours.
This place is one of my favorites, I used to frequent it when I lived in the area, but have never been brave enough to venture inside, I'm so glad to see it through your lens. Truly breathtaking set, you made my day!
