i love that it says "Comments pertaining to real location names... ...are subject to immediate deletion and your ip address being banned from this website." yet you put a couple of photos with the real location name and you're using it... although it was renovated, so i guess it doesn't really matter.
That only really applies to places that are on the site under a pseudonym. There are a couple. Pretty pointless putting a place like this under a pseudonym when it's gone. :)
Oooooooooo I could just imagine the nights when there were cues outside and the gals in fancy Marilyn dresses.
Rasberry seems to have been the hotel's signature colour.
Rasberry my favorite color. Love this one.
Is this the back celebrity enterence? picture a huge 50's cadillac limo parked on the corner!
Part of the hotels problem was that there is / was absolutely NO parking anywhere for the hotel to continue being a hotel. So, the other hotels around the area received more customers, Although the Sterling was once a Grandiose and had a lot of night life, it died off in the 70's when so many other night clubs popped up (with parking). The pic above is a side entrance.
Aussie, the building is not gone. The tower is gone, which they were going to turn into a parking lot (I think), but the atcual sterling Hotel is still there. What do you think Silkster... someday the renovations will be complete. Maybe we just need to "believe"... LOL
The hotel still stands in the same spot. The back half of it has been torn down but the main building still remains. It is still very vacant though
The main building had heavy damage to the foundation during the September 2011 flooding. The engineers now say it is unstable and must be torn down. The streets around the hotel are blocked off to traffic for safety. It is very sad, but I think it will be torn down in the near future. My mom and dad won a dance in the ball room in the early forties. It is very sad to see it now.
