Do you think they sell off that beautiful scroll work, and finials before they tear it down?
I hope so one of those things would look fantastic on my lawn.
if you're inturested in that type of stuff look up Urban Archiology, they sell those types of things (and light fixtures that are to die for)
I agree with you Canada, two of those things at the entrance of my house and it'll make my house look like a mansion.
Pretty!
What a fabulous shot. Don't see anything like this anymore....
Krow Sorrow: Do they sell soap dispensers, too? ;)
these look like big chess pieces- either the king or queen...
nice one Krow Sorrow, if i ever get some money i'll be buying from that site ;)
Ooooo... pretty shot
I live not far from the sterling hotel, I dont remember them saying they were knocking the main building down, I believe they are going to re do the inside and open shops on the ground floor. There used to be a restaurant, a Barber shop and a beauty salon, and if i remember correctly, a mens hat store too. It had turned into an apartment building and the sterling management didnt pay their electric bill (or something like that) and all the occupants (mostly elderly) were removed with no notice from that building, it was very sad . they werent even allowed to take their posessions, the city came in and said - Leave! and that was it. they never went back. Anyway, when the city went back in a year or so later, they saw that someone stole the gigantic chandelere from the main lobby, and a lot of the marble from the walls were missing. (sounds like an inside job to me) But, according to the last thing I heard about it, they are building a parking lot behind it and going to reopen the Hotel.
Hey Silk, I heard pretty much the same thing you did. I live only a few blocks from the hotel. :)
Nice shot !
I hope they do re-open it and its not torn down...they re-opened the Book-Cadellic (spelling) here in Michigan. I haven't been to it but from reading in the papers here its suppose to be beautiful. Its great when they re-open places. I do hope they can do that to this place as well....otherwise what a waste really....
