Yes, please refrain from using terminology such as that. It can be very insulting to those of us who have close relatives who have mental retardation and developmental disabilities. It may not be intended but I take a personal offense to comments like that.

I agree with CAS. My brother has mental retardation, and whenever someone jokingly or insultingly calls someone else a retard, I cringe.

I WENT TO THIS HOSPITAL IN 1994, TO EXPLORE IT. IN THIS MORGUE, OVER TOP OF THE DECEASED PATIENTS REFRIGERATORS WAS A SIGN WHICH READ: " THIS WAY OUT ! " i WONDER WHO PUT IT UP AND WHO TOOK IT DOWN?

I think the term mental retard is highly disrespectful. Have respect and imagine what they must have gone through. Has anyone that has ever climbed into one of these ever sensed anything?

Calling someone a "retard" is reserved for those with such a limited vocabulary that they cannot think of something more creative. However, it's even more pathetic when they can't even spell the word right. "Retart"? What is that? Like a SweeTart with twice the sour?
