they dont make them like this anymore?
WOW!!!
The true shame of it all is that something
like this, which was certainly custom-made,
has been turned into nothing more than
useless rubble.
Ooh! Please make this one into wallpaper!!!
That tile is killer!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
Just beautiful, I want that tile. :-(
My boyfriends dad would flip his shit over these tiles, he's always doing tilework.
I love you Lynne.
I agree with johnny mac on the loving of lynne
[i'm jo, i decided to come back with a new name, this time hopefully to stay.]
Hopefully, someone salvaged the tile work. Otherwise, these photos are all that remain. What magnificent workmanship.
Beautiful!
great shot!
how much would that be today to do
Too loverly.....
Is Lump my Darlin' Jo?
Yes, lump is Lynne's darling jo.
Stealing her neighbors internet!
Welcome back, my love!
OMG i love the colors! they have really held up well
Awesome colours!
Love the tile design too.
Nice color.
Nice color and detail in this one, Motts
A pity that, like most of the gorgeous woodwork and stonework around the country/world, this too has more than likely been lost to the ages.. Beautiful hand-done work, painstakingly created, completely destroyed in the blink of an eye.
How does our society just let something like this go to waste? Thanks for documenting this location!
This is absolutely gorgeous tilework - was this in a lavatory area or in the main lobby?
I believe it lined the second floor around the lobby.
I hate how such beauty could end up killed by a wrecking ball.
That tile is fantastic...
See.. that's why i can't go in places like this...I would have debated about ripped a few of those tiles off the wall.

But in the end it's Valdelism and THAT is why places like this are impossible to get into to take a few photos..

Absolutely stunning Motts!!
Strange that, it's still there on the walls, that no one rubbed it :)
Stunning!
I want tile like that! Except cleaner...
I don't know why everyone keeps saying this place has been leveled. They demolished the tower building connected to it, much to my annoyance, but this building here is still there.
It makes me sad that things built today aren't built with they're own charisma and character...

Very lovely & stunning.
I'd love to explore a place like this!
OMG...what a beautiful example of true art!
I also hope that they did salvage some of this stuff. Otherwise what a total wate really.....if you ask me that is......
for the millionth time everyone the Sterling Hotel did not get demolished. the tower building that was connected was the building that got demolished. but the Sterling Hotel is still there....i would know because i see it everyday...and i love it : )
beautiful tiles! the colors!
back then they would go above and beyond when making things because thats what they thought they had to do. like the old chevys and fords and other cars were made of pure steel because they thought that was how to make a car strong
your work is truly amazing, Tom....I have spent the better part of my Friday morning in awe. I have wanted to work on a project like this myself, for some time. *envious* Thanks for sharing the history of these locations w/the world!
