Feels so very, very lonely...
Ah, a word that's the same in French as in English...
I agree with the both of you.
Do we know of any persons of noteriety interred here?
it looks like death, long forgotten.
The colors in this are striking.
Beautiful colors!
Strikingly beautiful.
Yup, what Jude said, I'll second, third and agree with.
I agree.
Regrets is an interesting thing to have written on a tombstone.
Did they regret what they did do in life, or what they didn't do?
Maybe both. Regrets, though... to have that written on your grave means something very sad in any light. It just perpetuates the memory of something left undone or something done needlessly, it defines the owner of the grave in death.

As for the photograph itself, the colours are subtle and beautiful, the lighting is soft and allows for the loneliness to really be felt. Very emotional piece.
The first thing I took note of besides the colors are the word REGRET and the date, being 1905... that's over 100 years old. Amazing.
1st time I've seen that on a tombstone-and I've seen a few.

When I was about 22 I wrote my own epitaph(which I don't think I'll use) anyway it did end with: " I have no regrets "

strange
Nature is quite the exquisite painter.....and you're the exquisite photographer...
nice epitaph you will have guitorman, I think i will use that one myself....if you don't mind.
Here rests Madame widow A. Palmans
nee Maria Brinck
Died in **** on the 16th of June, 1905
In the 7th year of ?
Provided with the help of the church

That sound close?
Ah I see it says:

At the age of 71
pesares
Thank you bill jones
I don't think it's "provided with the help of the church", but more likely "[deceased] with the comforts of religion" ie, she passed away believing in Christ and the afterlife.
Also, I'd say the "regrets" means that the people who interred her regret her passing, that is, "you will be missed".
still......i hope no one chooses to write "regrets" on my headstone, tomb, urn, obit, whatever. I like "i'm good now" - Bob Schneider :)
Wake me up inside, wake me up inside. Call my name and save me from the dark...bid my blood to run, before I come undone. Save me from the nothing that I've become...Bring me to life. - Evanescence
Wake me up, before you go-go
-Wham
I don't cry at anything, but this touched something in my heart. To not feel sad about this, you have no heart.
