Jazzed up decay, sweet!
I love it when you can catch the old interior paint jobs still on the walls.

Very 70's here. *lol*
Cool retro paintings!
Ypsilanti State Hospital: Decaying in style.
How retro.
I see another 'OK'
Hallway shots always make me think about the people who walked in them when the hospital was open. Really Nice Shot, love the colors!
I had the same thought Zebra! LOL!
g r e a t !
Is that "Groovy" or "Far out"? I forget my historical definitions.
I never saw such colorful walls back in the 59-61 era. They were all two-tone light & dark green with brown tile floors except the tunnel I think was just concrete floors. (been a few decades)
I worked at this place from 1979 through 1980. I was 19 years old when I started working at Ypsilanti State Hospital. I was a Resident Care Aide III. In 1980, they changed the name to Ypsilanti Regional Psychiatric Hospital. At the time, I was also a student at Eastern Michigan. I was able to do quite a bit of studying on the job. I remember when they painted those "rainbows" on the walls. It believe it was in the summer of 1979, when they did the painting. Working at YRPH was quite an eye-opener for a 19 year old. Ohhhh.... the stories and images from that place I have emblazened into my mind.
Wow -Shaun do tell more! I would love to hear of your experiences, if you feel like writing send me an email. (I hope this isn't violating any rules)
i like this one...
:D
I spent sometime there as a child , in the late 70's. I forget which ward, but was a part of the Yorkwoods Center across the road. Dont really remember much of any of that place as colorful....some of the people yes, but not the walls. Some very kind staff were there at that time. We kids were a mixed bag, some with real bad mental issues and some just truble maker kids whos parents couldnt handle them.
