awesome perspective
Oh hell yeah!
wow i can just imagine how many people held on to this fence and starred outside.
"Let me out! I'm not crazy it's the world!"
what a sad and depressing view!
I was thinking the same thing Opal... just imagine staring out the window as the world passed by
The perspective here sells this shot and captures the subject perfectly. Very well done, and of course it is a shame it is all lost to us now.
lol, It kinda makes the hair on my neck stand.
Great texture.....nobody does this better than you do! The term "barriers" has new meaning.
i love the angle u used for this pic...
Double Scrrened? Pessimism or Optimism? You decide. :-)
I can see my self in the people trapped in there's shoes, looking out at the changing world, wothing touching distance, but still so far away
If people were never caged, then the rest of us would never appreciate our freedom.
Fresh air is FRESH air.... many inhabitants were allowed grounds privledges and able to freely roam the campus with golf course, tennis courts etc.during dayllight hrs only. You could even check out golf clubs.

Remember, not everyone tehre was NUTS!
all michigan institutions have these same double steel mesh windows
I lived in this hospital on the childrens ward for a yr and a half. I left right before it closed when I was 15. This is was what our view looked like from our bedroom windows. Not a nice place at all. The building was infested with cockroaches that would fall from the ceiling panels. Sad sad place.
I can only imagine the number of patients whos faces were mashed up against that screen looking out. Nice perspective.
