Cross

Cross

I'm not sure what purpose the poles served were that were protruding from the roof line, they looked like flag poles but it was tough to see from the ground.

Another awesome set man! I've gotta check this location out soon, looks incredible. I've heard rumors of homeless inside the prison building though...
That is a unique prison.
Thanks Motts for the picture candy- again!
Thanks for another great set Motts! I live relatively close to this place and have often wondered what it was like. In fact, this past summer I worked across the street from the prison that replaced this one.
Amazing that theres no vandalism or salvage stripping!
I also find the starburst punch outs intriguing, they seem so decorative in a place that requires little adornment! Why not just bars?
Very cool set Motts! It's way cool to be able to see this place from the outsider’s perspective. It looks like that was a horrible place to be locked up in.
That set was enough to give me some proper chills. Excellent set done, Motts!!
loved it mr. motts, again you made my day!
when ever you feel that there is no hope just call out too Jesus. He will help you no matter what your past was.
Great set, such a beautiful building for a jail.
That was the best jail I ever saw the inside of... ;)
Awesome set motts!
Sweet Set!
oh man they should so make this place into a big taco bell. Keep it in the same shape, just put a big kitchen and some tables and you got a taco bell. You can never have enough taco bells anyways
Motts you have just made my day. Keep up the Wonderful Gallery Motts.
You never fail at perfection Motts! This was another terrific set.
IT'S THE CROSS FROM THE OMEN COMING DOWN. WATCH OUT!!!
I want a cell with one of those dumpers for a guest room in my house.
My guess would be either flag poles or banner holders.
i was away all weekend and was very excited to come home to new pix :) Thanks for sharing
First time I've seen a cross on the roof of a prison. Very interesting! Great gallery. Thanks!
I think Wormfood is right. Could they have beenfor some kind of holders for wires? Either for electrical service or one of those systems that people put on the roof in case of a lighting strike? Or could it be for barbed wire, to keep people from escaping out the roof then repelling down the side of the building.
awesome angle, great shot!
That would be where they hung the body with the sign under saying "Pirates, Ye be warned!"
Another great set of photos , Motts....scary place indeed. I don't think Prisons are to be inviting either like someone posted in this thread. Look forward to more photos of other places, Motts. Thanks!!
those viny tree thingies make the whole picture.
wicked awsome dude
wow tom... the place looks really cool. nice job Mr. Motts
Where is the exact location? I have lived here for three years and cannot imagine where that is. I read some crazy stories about this prison. The new location is right by the post office I always go to, it is huge!
very wicked, like viewing the past life of tortured souls.lol jk ;<D
Thank you fo the inside shots of this prison. I am a native of this town and driving up to this incredible building gives you chills and you can just feel history brewing out of this place. I would love if York would restore this site as a historical sight like Eastern State. My husband got to go in there because he was a student of a school nearby in the 80"s and I was so jeoulous when he told me that because this building is so,so unique. This is a historical gem. The previous poster asked how tall this is and it is 3 or 4 stories high and sits on a little bit of a hill so it is high enough to tower over the houses in the area. This is right in town and is near an elementry school. Imagine looking at this building from an elementry school.
Great site, great pics. Thanks.
In the late 80's we would play there when we were kids.never noticed that cross before.great photos
