Cut

Cut

The upper floors of the prison were cell blocks that generally looked like this - a row of small windows wrapped around the front and back of the building, with the cells clustered on the inside. A row of bars separating the cells from the windows seem to have been cut out.

I wonder why the bars were cut like that? Maybe for the whole renovation idea, just to make space?
love these colors here too. MOTTS!! how do i make my photos infrared using photoshop? if you could tell me or anyone that would be the best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!
Motts this is my Favorite Gallery!!!!!! Keep up the wonderful work Motts!!!!!!
two words: BEAUTIFUL and CLAUSTROPHOBIA!
Claustrophbia yes but Im not sure about beautiful but definately interesting
I can just hear a creaking sound, then all of the rails swing shut.
those bars almost look like they are going to drop from the ceiling
You capture quite an emotion with this photo!
It's a drag that those bars got cut. The great thing about these old jails and prisons are the bars shielding cells from common areas. I bet they cut them worried they would scare off potential buyers.
I wonder if anyone ever managed to break out of that place? :'D
Mott, you must truly feel the power of these places you photograph, because you convey it so well in the shots you take.
maybe they were enlarging the cells?

it could be that they were trying to salvage the iron...
Its those scrappers I tell ya.
Well I live next to this old prison, and ben in it. it was scrappers that stripped it. there was also satanic rituals done there also.
I live down the block from this place, did you know two children died in the lake that sits next to it? Creepy...
The bars were cut and removed for use in the new Y.C.P. on Concord Rd.
Quite the difference between this prison & Lorton Reformatory.
