Headless Mary

Headless Mary

The headless mary statue has been kicked around a lot... this and choir sheet music are some items found from what must've been a chapel area.

The lead singer/bassist of the Goth-a-billy band The Young Werewolves still has the head she knocked off over a decade ago. I believe it's a candle-holder these days. It's made from poured concrete with re-bar. It's heavy as Hell and requires a few people to lift it upright. Every time we do it though, some idiot knocks it over again.
I know i have been criticizing (i know my spelling is horrible sometimes) almost every picture but i find it incredibly amazing how some people have nothing else better to do with there time to where the have to vandalize every abandoned building they come in contact with
Mary's pissed!
Well...she's certainly lost her head!
I would love to have that statue !
MARY MUST BE PRETTY PISSED RIGHT ABOUT NOW... PLUS THATS SO MESSED UP!!!
I think you people should grow up.
but we are TOYS R US kids!
It's better they kick around in byberry than in some of the other more pristine places motts has taken photos in.
A decapitaded Mary, something I'd like to own in my collection or at least take a picture with it.
Nice picture.
I know I'd be pissed if some drunken idiot chopped my head off. Then, I'd come back to haunt them and show them what it feels like *grins*
were did mary statue come from in front of st anslem i remember when a mary statue head got knocked off n all the cross's in the school got turn up side down a girl i know said she seen the head n it was crying n that statue sure looks like 1 i remember
actually this statue was still standing this past weekend... came across in sunday night
A group of people should go down there and put it in front of the building for the demo crew to see.
this reminds me of a funny ass story my english teacher told us... when he was a HS senior he was on an awning thing vandalizing some chick's window because she turned down his prom date offer and her mom pulled in the driveway but his friend had ran away with the ladder so he had no choice but to jump so he did and took a mary statue right to the tailbone it was so great he didn't break the statue but it broke the hell out of his bone, he was really really fat then too so its actually really funny to think about.

hey, I thought I could just lighten the cynical mood here...
Hey Mott.

You should stand this statue up, wash it off and take some black and white photographs of it.

You take some great black and white photo's and some black and white photographs of this statue would look so cool !

GROW UP JUST LIKE KATE SAID.....POOR MARY
I've looked at a lot of Mott's galleries & hardly any of the hospitals have a special place of worship.

It seems that all British mental institutions had them, either built into the main building or in the grounds.
Many of the older psychiatric hospitals had a separate chapel building on campus (pre 1920's), while the newer or renovates places often held services inside an unassuming room (or so they looked post-abandonment).
Danvers State Asylum had a chapel, but it was demolished along with the rest of the site earlier this year.
Oh....
I MEAN NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE, but this hospital must have been filled withn atheists.
(Martin Mull is atheist, and he's one of my favorite actors.)
Too bad someone would deface a religious icon.
hahah, i kinda want this statue..
I've fallen, and I can't get up!!
Headless Mary, good name for a Metal Band.
The owner of the head showed me a picture of iot. It is indeed a candle holder
I hate your picture. what up with the statue
