WTF!!!
Very nice lighting.
Very evocative shot.
very fuckn creepy makes me shiver and gives me goosebumps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the Sepia look ^_^
Perfect lighting.
Hmm, we can only speculate that this was more likely used to lift heavy objects, not to chain or spike patients...
I love this shot, very well composed. It gives me the creeps, but, I love it.
Whaaaaaat?!
Very creepy picture... Especially with the hook.
Looks like someone got out of his chains and threw them on the floor as he ran away from his previous bed (the gurny).
This is fantastic!
Lynne do you know what that is? Whats the chain for? Kind of creepy
where is Freddy Kruger?
SAW V
I love this shot! It sends shivers down my spine! It's like the hospital from silent hill or something.
BTY Motts did you put that chain there to freak us out or was it already there?

Either way it's one hell of a cool shot!
No I didn't put the chain there.
That sent chills down my spine!!!!
jackieb,

I don't know what the chain was used for but I can almost guarantee you it wasn't related to the gurney in any way. :-)
beautiful shot!
That's what we look to find! Excellento man.
The logical side of my brain says that the chain was probably used to hoist heavy equipment or secure a row of oxygen tanks.

The creative side of my brain can only picture this as a trap from one of the "Saw" movies...
Your light painting stuff is just awesome. Great shot.
Superb shot Motts! The light and composition are great, it's creepy cool.
Medieval dungeon?
good call krista, definetly a left brain , right brain picture. logic mixing with imagination!. of course Motts is a genius!
Oh gorgeous!
This shot says a lot. Nice job, Motts.
Your mind could play tricks on you trying to figure out what this was about.
I've noticed that a lot of comments on these photos tend to label as "creepy" items that are actually quite benign when you know what they're intended for.

But, this picture is just freakin' creepy.
Perfect shot! I love the creepiness. I hope it will be a running theme...LOL! That must of been one hell of a patient to need a chain like that!
Brilliant! Actually, i wouldn't say Silent Hill though, more like House on Haunted Hill type thing.
nice =)
OK, I'm HOOKED on this shot!! : )
Love it Motts!
masterpeice...
SH much? Fantasic shot
These photos are amazing! The lighting is stunning and the images are so hauntingly beautiful.
this is an awesome photo
wow motts this is a desktop pic
wow, i would have put that to good use!!!!! then again, maybe not --, ive never repelled off a building before....
how warm and cozy!
haha
amazing photograph.
Looks like something my girlfriend Dora would be interested in..lol Man, I love this site! Thanks, Motts.
That looks like the chain we use with our winch. It's pretty heavy duty.
Another excellent shot and great caption.. I almost wish it was in black and white in order to capture the original feel of a multitude of Alfred Hitchcock episodes.. 'Welcome to the asylum, we're here to help you' [starts up the skull drill]..
Wonderful lightening......shudder, shudder!
If you turn your head a little bit and look at the light near the gurney you could see a face...and the hole in the wll near the gurney could be the eye...wow...something else. That is an awesome pic. I would love to go Urban Exploring one day but I would probably be to afraid to go in the hospital. LOL
once again , simply amazing .

creepy making as well .
looks like the troll got out again...
who's next?
you know what happens after you step on that chain...........
why does my name on the thing change evry time wtf?
Riminds me of a field hospital during WW1. Nice shot, correct sir, in sepia.
oooh, this makes me shiver.
the chain and hook are really spooky. but in all reality we have to realize that these patiatants that were unstable really badly unstable would be chained up. chained to a wall like a animal. which is sad and wrong but back then they had no choice.
This pic needs to be made into wallpaper!
What a gorgeous powerful shot!
Wow what a pic cool
Very horror film-ish. Fantastic use of the lighting! Nice work!
Thank you Motts, I shall have nightmares tonight >.< Either way the picture is beautiful in a creepy way
Wallpaper?
clever shot, but in all reality, the chain probably had nothing to do with restraining a patient.
I love "pinhead"
SEE NO EVIL
HOLY SHIT!
Very eerie shot. Like a scene from Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
So, I just stumbled on this site it being close to Halloween and whatnot; I must say I respect the balls on whoever explored this place.
i have this place in me head!
WOW! So powerful this is by far my favourite piece I've seen so far
I can also only think of the Saw movies. Although, this chain could have been used in a humane manner....but I don't like to ruin the scaryness of it all....lets keep it creepy people. Good shots...Motts. Lol. That ryhmes.
beautiful picture the lighting is amazing :)
There is an old movie called the Shuttered Room where this poor girl is chained up for years and this sure does remind me of it!
I don't get why these people were treated so bad. I am doing a research paper and your site is helping me and aweful lot. I am doing it on how mentally ill people need to be treated better. I read somewhere that in Europe, and man with down syndrome was chained to a metal crib for eleven years (since he was ten). This picture reminded me of that. It's horrible really.
Ashley, What university are you at? You can find alot of good, helpful info. on this site if you read the comments from Lynne, she has vast knowledge of the many aspects of how state hospitals are ran. lol lucie
I just read a book called The Death of the Asylum: A Critical Study of State Hospital Management, Services, and Care. It's dated, but provides an in-depth view of the root causes of failures in state-run psychiatric facilities, and may be of help.
Just been bumming around your site today, enjoying the galleries. This photo really did make me shiver! Goodness....
Hey Motts! How did you hear about the homeless person living onsite? Was there 'evidence' of him?
Yes, he had a pretty ingenious way of blocking up the one working door so it couldn't be opened from the outside... which meant that when it was all in place, he was inside the building.
at lease the gurney is not alone.
