Seas

The top floor of the building had been overrun by pigeons for what looked like a number of years... there were only one or two flying around these days however. Massive piles of dropping littered the floor, some mounds reaching a foot high; many doors were sealed shut without the aid of a shovel. The smell became a bit overwhelming after a few minutes in the late summer heat and humidity.

Wow. "Night of the Guano" indeed.
Thats nasty, dang, that would mean they were feeding on something in the building at one point in time, and they left because the source of food was gone..
I can imagine the sickly oppressive odor of it in the sultry heat of summer!
Well...They did store an overstock of Doritos here for a while.

No, not really, I just made it up.
Looks like shag carpet... or cottage cheese ceiling...
I can smell it through the computer monitor!
I'm reminded now of a Ghosthunters
show I saw... it was ridiculous!

The only one I saw: I think they were in
Waverly. Shorts and halter tops, cheap
sneakers, nary an ineffective dust mask to
be seen...
With the likely presence of lead paint,
asbestos, pigeon dropping-dust and
what-all else, they didn't seem credible
to me!
It must have been disgusting to walk through all that and smell it at the same time
YECK!!!! I would burn those shoes Mr. Motts
It makes my eyes water just to THINK about being there.
eww, haz-mat suit needed here!!!
Please tell me you wore a mask!
I just threw up in my mouth a little!
eeww
Ever notice (when people aren't feeding them) that you CAN'T see what Pigeons are feeding on?
Ever notice you never SEE baby Pigeons?
Ever notice you can't spell Pigeon without PIG?
Ever notice(I know I'm contradicting myself-but you MAY get the rare chance) baby Pigeons lined-up like PIGS nursing from the mother?
Ever notice (although I'm deathly afraid of them) no one is actually proven to get sick from Pigeons?
Ever hear a sick Pigeon crow (softly) like a Rooster on a cold, dreary day?
Ever wonder what life would be without them?

I have a friend who tells me his late grandfather(which side?) used to set rat traps in the street for Pigeons, catch them, pluck them, soak them, and eat them. ("He was a CRAZY motherfucker!!!")
well, that's probably why the cat was in so much agony.
Oh ya i got some , rat infesation cases too lol, it usually will happen
Looks like ash...
The lumps in the foreground look like Pompeii victims...
Motts I have to tell you that pigeon crap is very toxic and the dust is even worse, especially if its been there for a long time. If I were you I'd get checked by a doctor. It might take a while but you can still have health problems related to that. Hope everything is OK. http://www.nyc.gov/htm...epi/epi-pigeon.shtml http://www.idph.state..../hb/hbb&bdrp.htm
ok that is really nasty I feel sorry for you Motts some of the stuff you can put up with is unreal.
Jak...It's called "roosting". The flock would fly into the building at night and sleep there. Just a little bird education for your thoughts.
