Marks the Spot

The patterns of light formed on the floor were fascinating.

"fascinating" what motts said.
Very nice alignment!
was this all natural lighting then Motts? Its beautiful
I love the intersection of all the rays of light from the rooms. Nice job.
The lighting is always perfect for you, i have not had the same success lol
Oh yeah, that "X" is really cool!
I love all the angles and lighting. I like that sink in the background
FANTASTIC SHOT!!!!!
Fantastic shot.

Vote: WALLPAPER!
WALLPAPER!!!!!
WALLPAPER!!!!!
one more time....
WALLPAPER!!!!!
please Motts?
I'd love to, but I don't think a wallpaper will work, unless your screen can be rotated vertically :-)
wow what an amazing bit of art, and to think if you were not here at that time of day this might not have ever been recorded.
I LOVE how the light plays on this one...great shot, Motts!
WALLPAPER FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy crap that's one helluva shot Motts! It doesn't get more perfect than that, the "x" is almost too good to be real. And I really like the softness of the light in the rooms on both sides.
I'd design the entry of a house like this.

"unless your screen can be rotated vertically"

'S okay, both of mine rotate!
freaking beautiful!!!
whichwaytogowhichwaytogo
Brilliant!
LOVE this picture! the lighting is amazing!
One could do a vertical wallpaper, with black (or decorated, or whatever) bars on either side to fill it out to the required (horizontal) dimensions... The width of the photograph need not be the width of the screen.
What a peaceful shot.

"You are here."
Hey Whats that thing Down the Hall is that an old food cart or something ?
Now, get a shovel and dig where the beams meet. Maybe you'll find pirate treasure or something.........who knows?
beautiful and strange
this one reminds me of pennhurst for some reason
This is great. I wish I could take great pictures, mine are awful. You have a gift.
X MARKS THE SPOT GET IT???????
I had to hunt down this shot just to make a comment.. EXCELLENT use of lighting and contrasts.. It's like looking in to the abysmal mirror of conflicting desires and falling prey to turn desires.. Whichwaytogo indeed..
The BEST shot ever! How do you do it over and over again. Thanks!
the pic looks cool

to bad you didn't take a overview picture of the place
i wonder if something actually happened there at one point in time?
lolololoool an X tahts cool
That is captivating.
Greetings from Germany...
Very nice pics you are showing here´, I like them all.
Is this the very spot where a scene from the film 12 Monkeys was shot? The room looks pretty alike.
I spy, with my little eye, a soap dispenser.
Wow..
Intriguing... interesting patterns, once again.
this is probably my favorite shot from the group, its really great, its really simple, but there is so much to look at!
amazing shot
As soon as I looked at this picture I felt and overwhelming sense of "this is it". This sight seems to say "This is your home now...always has been...always will be". Heartbreaking. On a lighter note however, I have seem numerous posts by "AO" and I would just like to say that whoever you are, we seem to be very like-minded. Like me you look at a picture and see more than decaying furniture and pretty lighting. I am only 20 years young but I also try to see the forest and not just the trees :)
becky,i too see only beauty,i always overlook the decay and for a moment forget that it is an old rotting asylum, its just so breath taking,i would love to go on a little field trip to this place, its truely stunning.
they need to reopen some of these places because there are lots and lots of people out there who still need help and with technology these days life in these places for most people wouldnt be as morbid
hard to believe anyones still lives in a place like this - without electricity and with the f´in scary noises at night... man..
I.Love.This.
i think i see a soap dispenser....lol
Cool! The position of the 'X' would change throughout the day and vanish at nightfall.
