Seclusion Glow

Seclusion Glow

On each floor was a wing at either end of the building which held a number of seclusion rooms.

Nice "sunrise" colors.
This place is astoundingly free of tags & grafitti. Was the whole place like that, Motts?
Yes, it was not a very well known place, although things might be different these days. The last time I saw it was in 2006 and it hadn't changed much at all in one year.
lots of rust and peeling paint but nice to see no vandalism
I can't belive they needed so many 'quiet' rooms in these old facilities. I'm glad times have changed.
I was wondering that, too. How many seclusion rooms did most hospitals have?
Love, love, love the colour and everything about this shot!
it takes my breath away!
Heavy shot
I love the open door photos you take.
Reminds me of the song Freebird, absolutely beautiful!
Ironic that these doors meant to be kept closed are now open.

Just a beautiful touch of blue creeping into the shot! The photo wouldn't be the same without the contrast.
Wow you must've been so afraid that the homeless guy would come bounding out from one of those rooms, eek! Maybe he wasn't dangerous, but still the fright at first !
Dynamic!
These doors are big. Were they hard to move. Rusted hinges, I mean.
Great shot.. Leads me to believe that even though the doors are open, we have all locked ourselves way behind pretenses and falsehoods.. Except Motts..
it looks like everyone just woke up and are all coming out of the rooms at the same time
Standing at attention and waiting for inspection!
Makes you want to explore everything behind those doors!!
These are the diffrent levals I spoke about.I'm sure there are no curtins on these windows.
It breaks my heart to think o the people who had to be locked in their.
The doors seem to be waiting for something
Forgive my comments Mr. Motts for as I read through the previous ones I find that mine are a tad on the darker, deeper side. There are lost souls in those rooms. Terrified of the voices in their heads and the images their brains made them believe they saw. I really believe those patients will be there forever. Not so much as ghosts but as one of time's many memories. Souls with eyes that stare out of those cell doors aching for something or someone to simply make it all stop and souls whose minds had deteriorated so much that their minds were no longer their own. Painfully beautiful.
i agree with becky i was institutionalizzed for about almost ten years of my life and i am only 26 i was in the old aurora hospital and these psych places really are a sanctity for lost minds souls or just the embalance of certain people
It was best they were not of mind and body. If they were they would have know the loneliness of the door closing behind them. Caught between two worlds.
