The dog looks way familiar.
That's a freaky-looking tail on that dog.

Come to think of it, that whole picture kinda gives me the heebie jeebies.
The dogs tail is like a baby fern leaf.
This art has a 1950's feel to it.
it looks familiar to me too!
See Dick. Look at Spot. Go spot, go.
Sorry.. flashbacks to 1st grade reading
it looks like the dog is licking the kids armpit
That's what I thought too, Gee, the dogs tail looks like a koru.
Strange how so much of the paint around the place seems to be peeling off yet this painting is in remarkable shape.
I wonder if a patient did that painting and when. Not bad.
The style is 1950's, possibly early 1960's.
Seeing the naughty grin on the boy's face, he is so gonna grab that dog's tail!
WHY do people put clothing on dogs? (unless you actually live where it's 30 below, maybe, and your dog has his/her own outdoor gear). Sorry, random thought just slipped out there.....
talk about random thoughts, what is in that kids pocket?, and where is he hitchhicking to?
oh ya , and whos birthday party did the dog come from? and yes what is wrong with his tail? i need information Motts! :)
The boy looks weird, look at his eyes, they are scary
" A boy and his dog are soon parted "
Yeah, I've definitely seen that painting before. And there was a caption or comment about how it looked like he was supposed to be holding a knife in his hand or something. Ring a bell for anyone else?
(Twilight Zone music builds) It looks familiar to me too.....weird-o. Thank you Birdy for the remark about the knife, I thought I was the only one to notice that it looks like the boy had been holding a knife, perhaps to stab the dog with? And doesn't it look like they are sitting in a puddle of pee?
I'm sure Lynn or someone else could have a field day just examining my remark, lol, but seriously, this is one picture with just SO much going on, on so many levels.
And that tail! Looks like a fiddlehead fern or something.
I always wonder what people were thinking of when they decorated these places. It does look like his one hand is kind of awkward, almost like it was changed? Hmmm....

For you fellow Twilight Zone fans:
"You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone."
-Rod Serling, introduction to the original "Twilight Zone"
Ok. That kid looks kinda creepy.
All I could picture was the boy's right hand (with the thumb up) looks like he could be holding a lighter (which is invisible of course); ready to light the dog's party hat on fire and shoot off fireworks. Its almost 5am amazing what sleep deprivation does for one's mind.
Everytime I look at the photos, I read the comments, then go back to see what I've missed...
Argh, this is really bugging me. Where HAVE we all seen this painting before? I've tried googling "boy dog painting hospital" and all sorts of combinations involving asylum, mental, knife, etc. I'm so sure I've seen a photograph like this before, and somebody commented on the boy's hand holding an object. I just wish I could find it! It would be so odd if the same painting had been photographed in another hospital. Is the name of this hospital an alias? Because nothing comes up when I google it.
Indeed, this is definitely the same hospital . I called it Hospital X on my site ( http://www.forbidden-p...ploration-hospital-X ) , while Opacity calls it 'Northam Manor'
That's exactly it! It's even got that comment about the knife that I remembered. Thanks for that link, Peter. It was driving me nuts.
The painting of the hand is a different style from the rest of the painting. To me it looks like it was added on after the original was long completed.
very creepy making picture once again .
/:
Well, they ripped off Lady and the Tramp and some kind of fern to get the dog... as for the kid, no clue.
Didn't know the taste of armpits made dogs so happy.
The dog with the weird tail is a " King Cavalier Spaniel"
They had weird tails.
Whoa. It dose look like he's holding something.
youre all looking into it too much, just a nice little painting
I don't know why but finding paintings like this in insane asylums creep me out.
To respond to some of the questions, the knife in the hand thing was from forbidden-places.com. The dog's teeth are also a bit to sharp to just be playing, dont ya think?
It looks like the dog in How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Their must have been children in this part.or they felt that this would make the pts calmer.
cool that dog has a weird tail
yes finding it in an asylum like this is pretty creepy. Was it for the pedophiles that like to look at little boys?
hobo likes to fingerpaint
WAIT A MINUTE! It looks like his hand is holding something...
why do the asylums always have the strangest little drawings in em.
The kid dropped the rock he WAS holding in his hand behind the dogs head. Maybe the ghost of the kid did the kitty in.
yikes! Dr. Seuss must've practiced in this hospital.
Saw it on.. What was it, I dont remember, another site too. Creepy... Littlee boy about to stab the happy dog. Is that suppose to make the patients feel better? Some kind of strange treatment?

I didnt notice, in the exact same picture, I saw some time ago, the kid was holding a knife, as if ready to stab the dog.

Yes! I know where now, on .. Abandoned Places I think! Where you can actually see the knife, and he's about to stab the dog!
I wonder what all those creepy paintings in the asylums did for the treatment of the patients.. Looking at that always would make me go insane.
That picture looks so familiar.....possibly from a childhood book of mine? Dont know but the first thing I thought when I saw it was...hey...i know that dog from somewhere.
The boys right hand looks to have 6 fingers!
I bet those extra fingers come in "handy"! .
Sorry, it's late and my inner Henny Youngman just has to come out and play ;-)
very historious pic
what the f__k's a koru ?

the peeling paint underneath looks like fallen leaves.
May I point out his right hand couldn't be holding anything his fingers are out stretched and there is paint missing between the fingers, no knife, no six fingers, just a creepy painting by a halfarsed artist...
Cute dog
i always wondered what this place looked like inside...I don't live far from here and I thought it was weird you hadn't explored this place seeing you hit a lot of others in the area but here it is just under a psedonym but i know what this is ;-) shhh...
this picture is very creepy somehow and seems out of place.
Reminds me of Mark Ryden paintings

http://www.markryden.com/paintings/index.html
Reference to Norman Rockwell painting? lol
Huzzah! I finally found the real location of this hospital. It took several months of dilligent searching. I've found something to occupy my evenings - since watching the boob tube bores me to tears. I've managed to identify over 20 of the covertly-named asylums. It keeps me occupied. Don't worry, Motts. I'll not publish the names or locations. I wonder what it would be like to have a life?
has anyone notice but the kids head is the same as that doll skull head a few pics back. the early stages of makin' the movie "Chuckie"? muahahaha.
It's missing the cat!
how soothing - : (
I remember seeing a picture like that in an old book of my grand-parents. Creepy...
it looked like the boy was holding a lighter to me. the little sadist was going to set the dog on fire and laugh.
