Looks like someone has been smacking a cup or other round object against the door.

A head?... Maybe too for fetched, lol!
Creepy. It shows that real peopel were actually hear. Like scars of the past....rather profound.
the door in the first pic has similar marks on it.
looks like either a cup or a bottle....then again I dont think they would let the paitents have a glass bottle
Most likely metal or thick plastic...
probably the plastic bottle was the only toy they had
sad
It looks like the outline of the opening of a really hard plastic cup.
Motts was this on the inside or the outside of the door?
If I were the betting type I'd put my money on this being a shot of the inside of the door. And here is the reason(s) why. First thing I noticed is that this door and more to the point this window set in the door look very much like the door/window combo in the earlier shot, "Room 359" I think it was called? In that picture you could see a room number and in this picture above the door there is no room nunber, or one that we can see. Also, if the marks left were caused by a cup or other circular object being bangged aginst the door it might stand to reason that one would be pounding away trying to get out, not to get in...
That's creepy looking--it reminds me of stories about people trying to claw their way out of enclosed spaces.

Although in this case I'll agree with the above and say this looks like it was caused by a cup or something. As blueskyes said, it seems like someone *really* wanted to get out of that room.
I think that it was finger nails becuase where whould be painets who wanted out, and had claw their way out and lost all of thier nails!! THIS IS VERY FREAKY!!!
Somebodies (insane) idiosyncratic obsesive compulsive disorder. Each one different. Like fingerprints.
Very neat. Maybe they banged on the doors to get the attention of nurses or guards. Or like Guitorman said, there simply is no true explaination for insanity.
Traces of an unwell mind... how haunting...
it looks kinda like someone was trying to dig out with a spoon, and if it those were nail marks they would be going straight up and down....not curved. but my guess is that someone was looking out the window screaming to get out and just pounding with a cup or digging into the door with a spoon. but if it is nail marks...ouch!
That is one helluva cup. It looks to big to be a spoon and I doubt they have let patients have spoons in their "rooms". It was probably a sane person locked away in here trying to get out.
OMG NO, it wasnt a cup, usualyy the guards or sometimes, they take the nightstick and bang it on the door when the patients go to sleep i dont know why exactly though
its just like the when they walk by
hm. strange. someone was angryyyyy...
the marks seem to be in a circular pattern,as though someone had an object in their right hand, making circular gouges as they screamed to be let out
Looks to me like someone tried to scratch their way out
being a former patient myself (not at that location) and the daughter of a nurse who worked in similar hospitals, I would say it may be from a brush used over time. As such, life in such places is suprising more normal than youd think and seem to be imaginging it to be on this forum and I used to use a hard-handled brush (allowed during the day and turned in at night) to bang on the wall and piss off the staff during the hours I was confined to my room- we all were during certain hours for rest. As such. said hospital is closed. Most of them are now.
A bedpan made those marks.
Someone wanted out, someone was unhappy, someone just wanted to be understood, maybe someone used there nails to try to get out, maybe.....
Totaly freaky.....someone really did want out!
I have my doubts that it was fingernails. Those doors are pretty heavy looking.
Fingernails (I don't think) could make those marks.
The semi-circular shape is too consistant.
Side note: Since the marks are on the right side of the window and a majority of people are right handed it would seem that whoever did this was right handed
yes a bed pan or metal restraints. Gone bet not forgoten.
